<br /> Gentlemen:--Your Finance Oommittee respectfully reports herein
<br />
<br />concerning the several matters referred to the Joint Finance Committee October 13th and 20th, as
<br />
<br />follows:
<br /> Referred by Oommon gouncil 0otober 13th.
<br />
<br /> An appropriation of $1,500 to divert a drain from the "Watts property" on Washington street
<br />
<br />to Dinwiddie street.
<br /> It is recommended that the appropriation be made in the budget for 1909.
<br />
<br /> An appropriation of $3,500 to curb West Park View. Progress as to same.
<br />
<br /> An appropriation of $600 to reimburse the Fire'Department for an expeh&iture to that amount
<br />
<br />for horses.
<br /> It is recommended that the appropriation be allowed.
<br />
<br /> A~ appropriation of $35° to renew fire-alarm wires.
<br />
<br /> We are holding up the matter for f~rther consideration.
<br />
<br /> An appropriation to supply the Police Department with 2 bioysles, 5 pairs of handcuffs and
<br />
<br /> 4 Smith & Wesson pistols.
<br /> It is recommended that $165 be allowed for their purchase,
<br />
<br /> The Auditor's and Treasurer's reports for September. Progress as to same.
<br /> Cancelled coupons to amount of $8,939.50, reported by the Audi$or. ~rogress.
<br /> A bond of Ralph Bendon, Polloeman elect,
<br />
<br /> Ne have examined this bond and recommend that it be accepted.
<br />
<br /> An appropriation of $100 to the Ladies givic League, to plaht trees.
<br />
<br /> It is recommended that the appropriation be made.
<br />
<br /> A bill of J. N. Dews to amount of $20, for chemical analysis of suspected ~m~ples of drugs
<br /> submitted to him by the Chief of Police. The matter ~s held up for further.consideration,
<br />
<br /> The Personal Property Book of Commissioner of the Revenue for year 1908.
<br />
<br /> We have examined this book, and recommend that the Auditor be directed, to charge up-the
<br /> assessments found therein to the City Collector.
<br />
<br /> A recommendation of the Joint Street gommittee that $25,000, sfas much thereof as maymbS nee-
<br /> essary, be appropriated for installing a crematory.
<br />
<br /> We are investigating the recommendation and will report on it in the near future.
<br />
<br /> An appropriation of $55 to furnish the Clerk with a large flat top desk.
<br />
<br /> It is recommende& that the appropri~tdon be allowed out of the regular ~ppropria~ion to

<br /> the l~blio Property Depart~ment.
