Eutchins, 12. <br /> <br /> The minutes of the regular meeting January i2th and of joint session and called meeting Jaanu~ <br /> <br />ary 28th were read and approved. <br /> -REPORTS OF COD~TTEES, <br /> <br /> Auditing-- <br /> Reported havimg examined bills against the Git~ for month, of January, 1909, and they <br /> <br />recommended the same for payment $o amoun~ of $18,539.5~. <br /> <br /> Nr. Bt!risen objected to the payment of a jury bdll for $81,50, as he was of opinion that the <br />City is not required to pay jury bills in civil cases, and he mo~ed that the-question be ~eferred <br /> <br />to the City Attorney for his opinion thereon. <br /> <br /> ~nen the bills recommended for payment by <br />allowed by the following vote: <br /> <br /> Ayes--Hall, John Howard, ~atts, Dashiei-1, <br /> Buchanan, Tyler, Eawk~, Hu~chins, <br /> <br />The motion was adopted. <br /> <br />the Commz~tee., less the Jury ~ill for $81,50, were <br /> <br />Hanvey, Brooks, Walton, ~ob~on, Brinson, <br />12. <br /> <br /> Non. Common Council. <br /> Gentlemen:--Your Finance Committee respectfully reports as to <br /> <br />the severaL matters referred to the Joint Finance 0ommittee by the two bre~u~ehes of Ooumcil January <br /> <br />12th and 20th, as follows: <br /> Referred by Common Council January 12tho <br /> <br /> An appropriation of $3,800 to pave Glasgow street from Effingham to Godwin. <br /> <br /> It is recommended that the appropriation be allowed. <br /> <br /> A petition of C. E~ Porter to have re~nded him pay lost as policeman on account of sickness <br />?th, 8th, 9th, 10th and llth of November, 1908, <br /> <br /> It is recommended that the petition be granted. <br /> <br /> A petition of William H, Jou.rnee, policeman, to be paid. $29 because of expenses incurred on <br /> <br />account of arresting a prisoner, Progress as to same. - . <br /> <br /> An appropriatdon of $25 to furnish the Police Department with a kodak. Booth & Bro., I. 0. Brinkley and Lewis Lawson~ <br /> <br /> The bonds of J. ~, Booth & Bro. and of I. O. Brinkley are not %~proper shape, and it is <br />recommended that the City Attorney be instructed to draft suitable bonds for ~nem. The bond of <br />Lewis L~wso~ seems to be dream properly, ~ut it should have the endorsement of-the ~ity Attorney; <br />and it is recommended that the bond be referred to him for endorsement~ <br /> <br /> An application of the Firs~ National B~nk for a deposit of one-third of Oity funds deposited <br />in banks.
