<br />concerning proposed conditions for lease
<br />
<br />of ~he Ferries, was, on me,ion, first read through,
<br /> First. Rates of Toil.
<br />
<br />and then taken up by sections, as follows:
<br />
<br /> The conditions were adopted without objection.
<br />
<br /> Second. Schedule of Trips.
<br /> on motion, section second was passed by temporaril2.
<br />
<br /> The several other sections of printed schedule and of report to the 0o~mon Oouneil February
<br />9th having been read and discussed section SeCondof said schedule was taken up, when Nr. Eontague
<br />moved that trips of boats between Portsmouth and Berkley~ard should remain as provided for in the
<br />printed schedule, except that such trips should be discontinued after 10 o'clock P. N.
<br />
<br /> Mr. Ha~S moved to amend, Provided that passengers and teams between Portsmouth and Berkley
<br />Ward after 10 o'clock P. M. should be permitted to go to said ward by way of Norfolk, without pay-
<br />ing an extra fare therefor.
<br />
<br /> Er. John Howard Hall moved to amend further, ~hat after the first five years of the lease, if
<br />the 0ity ~ouncil and the Hoard of S~pervisors deem it necessary to runa boat between Portsmouth and
<br />Berkley ~ard until mid-night, it should be so run by the lessee.
<br />
<br /> The motion by-Mr. Men,ague, as amended by Nrc Hawks, as amended by Nr. Hall, was then adopted,
<br />
<br /> Mr. Nontague moved further, That boats between Norfolk and. Portsmouth and Norfolk and Berkley
<br />shall make thirty minute trips between 12 o'clock mid-night and 6 o'clock i. ~.
<br />
<br /> The motion was adopted.
<br />
<br /> By the same--That the schedule of trips adopted shall go into effect in six months from begin-
<br />ning of the lease.

<br />Mr. Hawks moved to amend, Provided that during said six months fifteen minute trips shall be
<br />between Norfolk and Portsmouth and Norfolk and Berkley Ward, between 10 P. M. and mid-night.
<br />The motion with amendment were adopted.
<br />
<br /> Finally, the report and printed schedule as amended by the 0ommon Oouncil amd as amended by
<br />this joint session were adopted; and the 01erk was directed to forward a copy of the schedule a-
<br />greed on to the Hoard of Supervisors.
<br />
<br />On motion, adjourned.
