It is recommended that the Treasurer Be authorized to borrow the amo~mt asked for, and that the following resolution be adopted therefor: Resolved, That the Treasurer be ~nd he is hereby authorized to borrow fifteen thousan~ ($i5,000) dollars for 90 days of 0fry f~nds deposited in the.~erehants & Farmers B~ ~nd the Bank of Ports- mouth, to meet current expenses of the City for April, 1909. Eeferred by the two branches of Co~ncil January 12th a~d 20th. An application of the First National Bank for one-third of the 0ity deposit of funds, dc. It is reco~ended ~hat in future one-third ~f Oity funds be deposited in the First Nati6n~l Ba~k, on'the same conditions as such funds are now deposited in the Ne~chants & Farmers bank and in ~he Bs~zk of Portsmouth. A request Df the Behest Board for ~ increase of salary o£ the Oity Superintendent of Schools. ~e regret that we can not recommend at this time the increase~ requested. The name of the above mentioned street is Chest~nut street, and it is recommended that it retain that name. An improvement to the north east co~ner of 0curt and London streets, Progress as to s~ne~ The advisability of extending ~ashington street northward to Carroll ~treet. It is ~ece~ended that said streel be so extended al acosl of $6,000.00. The advisability of replacing the bridge at south end of ~ashington street ~th a culvert. .This proposition has been referred to the City~ginesr ~or estimates for same. The City Engineer has been instructed to prepare plans a~d specifications for the b~idge.
