Epperson, Bernard D, Griffin, Sr., James C. <br />HawkS, V, WaYneOrton, City Manager, stuart E,'Katz, City <br />Attorney. i <br /> <br />94-143 - The follOWing call for the meeting was read: <br /> <br />"Please attend a Called Meeting of the City Council to be <br />held in the City Council Chamber, 6th floor of City Hall, 801 <br />Crawford Street, at 5:00 p.m., Monday, May~9, ~994, for the ~ <br />purpose Of a joint~ meeting wi th the ~School BOard and~a Public <br />Work Session. : ~ ~ <br /> <br /> In addition, you may consider a motion to go into an <br />Executive Session. ' <br /> <br /> By order of the Mayor." <br /> <br />94-144 The following items were discussed in <br />Session: <br /> <br />the Public Work <br /> <br />1. Joint meeting with the School Board <br /> <br />School Board members present: <br /> <br />J. Thomas Berm, III, Chairman <br />James E. Bridgeford <br />Elder Charles H. Bowens,II <br />Ralph W. Buxton <br />Richard B. Crawford <br />Evelyn A. Hyman <br />Lawrence W. I'Anson <br />Leah D. Stith <br />Louise G. Walden <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Epperson, and seconded by Mr. Griffin to go <br />into Executive Session pursuant to provisions of Section <br />2.1-344 of the Code of Virginia for the following: <br /> <br />(1) Consideration of appointments to Boards and <br />Commissions by the City Council, as permitted under Subsection <br />(A) (1); <br /> <br /> (2} Discussion or consideration of the acquisition of real <br />property for public use in the Churchland portion of the City, <br />as permitted under Subsection (A) (3); <br /> <br /> (3) Consultation with the City Attorney and briefings by <br />staff regarding a legal matter involving Section 48-1 of the <br />State Code, pertaining to public nuisances, as permitted under <br />Subsection (A) (7). <br /> <br />The motion was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Epperson, and seconded by Mr. Griffin <br />pursuant to Section 2.1-344.1 of the Code of Virginia <br />certifying that to the best of the Council member's knowledge <br />during the immediately preceding Executive Session of the City <br />Council: <br /> <br /> (1) Only public business matters lawfully exempted <br />open meeting requirements by the Virginia Freedom of <br />I~formation Act~ and <br /> <br />from <br /> <br /> <br />
