<br /> On motion, the rules were suspended to hear from a committee of the School Board.
<br /> Mr. ~rshall spoke and urged the necessity for more school room, and requested the issue of
<br />bonds for that purpose.
<br /> After some discussion of the matter between him and several members of the 0ounoil, Mr. Jno.
<br />Howard Hall moved that the question of a bond issue for building public school houses be referred
<br />to the Joint Finance Oommit~ce. and that they be requested to ~epor~ defihitely concerning-sa~ at the
<br />called meeting for Friday evening, The motion was adopted.

<br /> The Seventh Ward Local Improvement Board requested the 0ouncil to appoint a committee to audit
<br />the accounts of the retiring Local Board and to take an inventory of all articles bought by said
<br />retiring Board.
<br /> On motion, the request was referred to the Joint Finance 0ommittee, with authorit~ to employ
<br />an accountant to make such examination, if the Committee should thi~k it necessary.
<br />
<br /> A communication was read from 0sole Dashie!l, John J. Gmllagher and other ~ster and Journeymen
<br />plumbers in which they said that ~$ it seemed that the question of how much should be paid members
<br />of the Plumbing Board was the only difficulty in the way of adopting the Plumbing Ordinance, they
<br />would serve on said Board for one year without pay.
<br /> Mr. Hawks moved to refer the matter to the consideration of the Joint Finance Committee.
<br /> ~SLr. J. H. Hall, Jr. moved to amend, that the Joint Ordinance 0ommittee be instructed to elimi-
<br />nate the m~tter of pay for members of the Plumbing Board in the ordinance proposed some time since,
<br />and to present the ordinance so amended at the next meetings of the Councils.
<br /> ~he amendment was adopted.

<br /> Mr. Hutehins presented a bill of Arthur F. Flynn to amount of $99-40 for work done sometime a-
<br /> go to hOUse of the Independent Fire Company. He said that the Portsmouth Gas Company h~d a bill a-
<br /> gainst the City for $80. for gas consunned in Armory Hall, and he thought it advisable to cut off the
<br /> gas from said ~ll ~t a~ cost not in excess of $50.00~
<br /> On motion~ the bill of Arthur F. Flynn and the advisability of cuttting of the gas from Armory
<br />-Hall were referred to the Joint Public Property Committee, while th~ claim- o£ the Portsmouth Gas
<br /> 0omDanywas, referred to the Joint Committee on Claims.

<br /> ~r. Hutchins said further that the Oity Oolleotor had received $150. from the insurance compa-
<br />nies because o~ damag~~ done to the Seaboard I~arket from the burning of O. L. ~illi~ms' stables, and
<br />~e asked that thds money be turned over to the Joint Public Proper~ty Oom~itte~ to be use& for put-
<br />ting inwin~0w lights and nmk~ng ether repairs to the building, made necessary because of the fire.
