<br />On motio~n, it w~s decided to consider first the re~ort of the Joint Einance Gommittee.

<br />Whereupon, the committee presented the followmng.

<br /> Gentlemen:--Your Joint Finance Committee respectfully
<br />reports herein concerning the following matters referred to it by the Oommon Gouncii November 9th:
<br /> To consider, with recommendation thereon, the pay of the incoming 0ity Collector and other mat-
<br />ters ~ertaiz~ing to same, ~nd report at the meetings c~lled for November 10th.
<br /> The Oommittee reports that they have given the s~id matters as muah consideration as the limi-
<br />· ted time for same would allow, and recommend the following f~r your adoption:

<br />Th~ Oity ~ollector-shall receive an annual salary of $2,500.00.
<br />A~d in addition thereto $200. for all current collections of 90 per cent. of taxes.
<br />And in addition thereto $200. for all current collections of 95 per cent. of taxes.
<br />And in additi'on thereto $200.. for all current collections of 97 per cent. of taxes.
<br />An~ in additionthereto $200. for all current collections of 9~ per cent. of taxes.
<br />An~ in addition thereto two and one-half pe~ cent. for all collections of delinquent
<br /> real estate taxes.
<br />~ud in addition thereto five per cent. for all collections of delinquent personal prop-
<br /> erty taxes.
<br />
<br />The Oity Oollector shall be reqnired to give a 'fidelity bond,~ to be approved bythe
<br /> Oity Oouncil, to amount of $30,000.00,

<br /> be confirmed by the City 0cuncil,
<br />TheDeputy Oity Oollector shall receive an ann~l salary of $1,000.00.

<br />The office hours of the Oity Collector shall be from 9 c'clook~.

<br /> ~Er. Williams. a member ef the Finance 0ommittee~ said that he w~s opposed to any fees for the
<br />Oity Ool.lector or his deputy; that he h~d so stated in Oommittee meetiDg; that he thought $2,500~
<br />Der annum for the City ~ollector~and $1~200. for the Deputy w~s an ample pay for the services of each;
<br />and, therefore, he would move to amend the recommendation of the 0ommittee so as to m~ke the total
<br />pay per ~nn~m of the Oity Oollector and of the Deputy~Oity Collector $2,500. and $1~200, respectively.
<br /> After some discussion of the proposed amendment it was lost by the following vote:
