<br /> On motion of Mr. Brooks, the Auditor.was instructed to draft a warrant in favor of Chairman of
<br />the Fire 0ommittee, or in his absence, the Vice-0haim~an of same, to amount of $150, to pay for music
<br />on annual parade of the 0ity firemen.
<br />
<br /> Mr. Hawks presented an ordinance to authorize the laying of an electric railway track on Hatton
<br />street, between Glasgow and London, and to oonuect with the tracks of the Norfolt~ & Portsmouth Trac-
<br />tion Company, at intersection of London and Hatton streets, and said ordinance was referred to The
<br />Joint Ordinance COmmittee.
<br />
<br /> gr. Hall moved to fill a vacancy on this body from the First Ward, caused by resignation of T,
<br /> Lawrence therefrom. The motion was adopted.
<br /> He then nominated John F. Benson to fill said vac~ey, and there being no other nominations, mr.
<br />.Benson w~s elected by the following vote:

<br />allowin~ t~e regular Street Force certain legal holidays,-with pay~ and he moved that the Street Com-
<br />mittee be mnstructed to teok up said resolution and report on the same~ The motion was adopted~

<br /> On motion of ~r. 0coke, the Joint S~reet Committee were instructed to report on the advisability
<br />of the ~ity Joining the Seventh Ward in the expense of paving Chestnu~ street. The motion was adopt-

<br /> ~r, Hall moved the appointment of a Committee of T~ree (2 from the Common Oounci! and I ~rom the
<br />Board Of Aldermen}. to look into and report as to service rendered by ambulance of the King's Daugh-
<br />ters' Hospital.

<br /> mr. Leigh presented a bill of E.-T. Barnum $ompany, to amount of $455~65 for cells furnished the
<br />-City Jail, and a bill of the 0hesapeake & Ohio Railroad, for $21.'46. 'for transportation of these cells,
<br /> an~asked that the bills be paid, but after some discussion of them they were referred to the Joint
<br /> A~diting Committee.

<br /> Mr. Leigh stated further that the ~oint ~ire Committee' had purchased 3 of the 5 horses which it
<br />had been authorized to purchase for the Fire Department, at a cost of $900, and as the horses were
<br />purchased for cash ~nd the Sellers of same wanted their money he would move that the bills for same
<br />be allowed~ The motion was adopte~.
