<br />Ba~k of Portsmouth. The Merchants' & Farmers' Bank, the Bank of Tidewater, and The First National
<br />Bank of Portsmouth. to amount of Five Thousand Dollars ($5,000.00), to mee~ expenses of the Public
<br />Schools for the m~nth of June,~tgll; said mmount to be repaid from revenues of the 0ity for the cur-
<br />rent year.

<br /> This sewer~pipe was laid before it was authorized by the Ooumcil, but as the Council has
<br /> si=ce approved of the work we have nothing to do but recommend the payment of the bill. We would
<br /> suggest, however, that in the ~uture no 0on, tree will undertake to have work done, without approval
<br /> of the 0ouncil for the same.
