Langhorne stated .that the Committee on ~laims had intended to report .against a claim of Har- <br />ry C. Hall to be p~id for the =scm he had built in the City Hall. and in the absence of such report <br />he would move that the claim be not allowed. The motion w~s adopted. <br /> <br /> The oath of office of R. L. Hutchins. lateiy elected City Collector. was read and was ordered to <br />file. <br /> <br /> A petition of of J. p. Duggan and o~hers for a sidewalk in front of their houses on Third Street. <br />between Lincoln ~nd Fayette. was referred to the Joint Street 0ommittee. <br /> <br />Communications were read from th~ Fabric Fire Hose 0ompany. accompanied by a bill. concerning a <br />"Har~ L~dder Pipe" whi~nit claims to have.sold to the ~ity through the 0hief of the Fire Department. <br /> On motion, the Clerk was _instructed to write to the Company and say that the Council h~s never <br />authorized such a purchase and to request that it forward the order for same. <br /> <br /> It was farther ordered also that the ~hiefof~the Fire Department be instructed that he has no <br />authority to make pnrchses for the Fire Depar~ent without the permission of his committee and the <br />Council therefor. <br /> <br /> A request was read from the B. ~.
