<br /> A communication was received~ from J. A. Persons concerning a drain that crosses his lot Nc.lES8

<br /> A request was read from the Adjutant General of Virginia that the City provide armory room for
<br /> company of J. L. Thomas.
<br /> On motion, said request ~was referred to the Public Property, Oommittee.
<br /> A petition of Samuel H. Thoma~ and others to have curbed auld.guttered Stonewall street, from
<br /> Green to Chestnut, was referred to Stree~t Committee; and a petitipn of Eamuel H. Thomas and others
<br /> for a ~light at .the-corner of Stonewall and Effingham street~ was referred to. Light ~Committee.
<br /> A request of the Seventh Nard Board that ~the City provide means to raise $5,000.00 for permanent
<br /> street improvements on Chestnut street, in thee Seventh Nard, was referred to Finance-Committee; and
<br /> a request of said Board that the City make 5~ notes to cover certain amounts due contractors for work
<br /> completed in the Seventh Ward, pending bond money being made available, was referred also to Finsa~ce
<br /> Committee.
<br /> Mr. Markham moved to reconsider former action in adopting the recommendation of the Street Com-
<br /> mittee to pave the south side of Glasgow street, between Effingham and Chestnut.
<br /> The motion was adopted.
<br /> He then moved ~o recommit said matter of paving, and after some discussion of the question, the
<br /> motion was adopted by a vote of 5 to Z.

<br /> On motion of ]~r. Moore, the question of an increase of salary for the Inspector of Plumbing was
<br /> referred to the Sewerage and Finance Committees, jointly.
<br /> Mr. Markham moved to refer t~',Btreet Committee the consideration of a drain at the north end of
<br /> Fourth street and east side of the _Wriends Church. The motion was adopted.
