March 20, 200'1 <br /> <br /> At a ;Called Meeting of the City Council on Tuesday, March 20, 2001, there were <br />present: <br /> <br />Mayor James W: Holley Ill, Vice Mayor Bernard D. Griffin, Sr., *Cameron C. Pitts, <br />P. Ward Robinett, Jr., J. Thomas Benn III, William E. Moody, Jr., Charles B. Whitehurst, <br />Sr., City Manager Daniel M. Stuck, City Attorney G. Timothy Oksman. <br /> <br />01 - 93 - The following call for the meeting was read: <br /> <br /> "P!ease attend a Called Meeting of the Ci~h Council to be held in the CilhY <br />Managers Conference Room, 801 Crawford S'[reet, 6 floor, 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, Marc <br />20, 2001, for the purpose of a Public Work Session. <br /> <br />By order of the Mayor." <br /> <br />01 - 94 - The following item was discussed in the Public Work Session: <br /> <br />1. CIP 2001-2006 <br /> <br />01 - 95 - Motion by Mr. Moody, and seconded by Mr. Whitehurst, to go into Closed <br />Meeting pursuant to provisions of Section 2.1-344(A) of the Code of Virginia, to discuss <br />or consider the following: <br /> <br /> The ac(q uisition or disposition of real property for a public purpose, as <br />authorized by 3aragraph 3, with the subject property being in the downtown area of the <br />City; also <br /> <br /> The investing of public funds where competition or bargaining is involved, as <br />authorized by paragraph 6; and also <br /> <br /> Consultation with legal counsel regarding specific legal matters requiring the <br />)rovision of legal advice by such counse~ as authorized by paragraph 7. <br /> <br />The motion was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Robinett. and seconded by Mr. Whitehurst, pursuant to Section <br />2.1-344.1 (D) of the Code of Virgima, certifying that to the best of the Council Member's <br />knowledge during the immediately preceding Closed Meeting of the City Council: <br /> <br />1. Only public business matters lawfully exempted from open meeting <br /> requirements by the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, and <br /> <br />Only such public business matters as were identified in the motion by which <br />the Closed Meeting was convened, were heard, discussed or considered in <br />the meeting by the City Council. <br /> <br />The motion was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br />On motion, meeting adjourned at 7:45 p.m. <br /> <br />Jtes <br /> <br />Victor H.
