Board of Aldermen. <br /> Gentlemen:-- Et;~meetings~ of' the two branches of City Cou~- <br />-cji February ltL1S, 151~., your Almshouse Committee was ~thorizsd.to advertise for bids to paint <br /> the Almshouse b~ildings and an appropriatiom for same was referred to the Finance Committee. <br /> At the March meetings of~the Councils, said Committee reperte~, with recommendation that the <br /> Almshouse Committee furnish further information ooncer~ing said painting a~d also concerning the put- <br /> · S <br /> Chase of~a wagon an~ harness for the Almshouse,-prev~ou ly asked for. <br /> As $S00.00 had been allowed in the "budget" fo~ painting and repairs t2 said buildings, the <br /> Almshouse Committee thought that the best way Of giving suchinformation would be to advertise'for <br /> bids to do the work. <br /> They have so advertised and have received the following bi~s therefor: <br /> For Painting: <br /> Geo. A. Brinkley, $190.00 <br /> J. P. 'Hofler, ~E~S.O0 <br /> L. P. Smith, 197.?B <br /> Geo~ A. Brinkley being the lowest bidder for the work and he being otherwise satisfactory <br /> to the committee, it is recommended that the award for same be made to him under a bond of SBO.O0 <br /> for faithful performance of the work, and that the City Attorney be instructed to draft a contract <br /> between said painter and the City to cover same.~ <br /> It is further recommended that the said $~00~00 allowed in the "budget" for painting and <br /> repairs be now made available to the Committee. <br /> <br /> With regard to the wagon and harness, which called for an appropriation not provided for in the. <br />"budget" but about which the Fimance Committee wanted information also, we.h~ve rec~eived bi~s for <br />same, and such info~mation will be turned over to'the Finance Comm~ittee. <br /> <br />(Signed). <br /> <br />D.
