Bailentine~. M.. M. Adams, <br /> O.-.Po Nutty, Henry Pile, <br /> <br />Williams, Vice-President, <br />T. Montague, C. N. Markham, <br /> <br />The following directions for th, special meeting were read: <br /> <br />"Portsmouth, Va., April 23, 1913. <br /> <br /> "N~. L. P. Slater,- <br /> City Clerk, City. <br /> "Dear Sir:-- -- <br /> "You will please call a special meeting of the Board of Aldermen for F~iday, April <br />25th, at 8 o'clock p. m., to consider ~he following matters: - - <br /> "First. An appropriation of $10,000.00 to Pttrchaee the Phitlips-Nahoney property fronting on <br />Wythestreet, fOr~ park and playground, adopted by the Common Council in special seesion Ap=il BEnd. <br /> "~econd. To take up again the award of contracts to The Bi-Lateral ~ire Hose Co. and The~B~ F. <br />Goodrich 0o. for 2,000 feet of hose, and an appropriation of $1,?00.00 to cover said awards. <br /> <br />"Very t~ly, <br /> <br />~"~.W. Walker, President B. o~ A." <br /> <br /> The "call" having been read~ Mr~ Markham raised the point of order that there was not a legal <br />nUmber present to make appropriations, a~d therefore, the matters ~amed in the "call" should not be <br />considered. <br /> The Chair sustained the point of order. <br /> <br />Mr. Markham next presented the following communication: <br /> <br /> ... "U. $. Navy Yard, Norfolk, Va., April ES, 1913. <br /> <br /> "Hon. Board:~of~Atd~m~n~and Oow~mon Council, <br /> "Portsmouth, Va. <br /> "Gentlemen:-- <br /> "I am directed by the Master Workmen's Association of the Norfolk Navy Yard to <br />request ym~r honorable bcd~Lio appoint a'committee of two to meet at the Board of Tra~e ~ooms in <br />Portsmouth, Va., May 14, 191~, at 8 P. M., for the purpose of securing work for th~ Norfolk Navy Yard <br />and to promote the generai welfare of the samej <br /> "Very respectfully, <br /> "J. C. Tyler, <br /> President." <br /> <br /> On motion, the request was granted and Messrs. ~arkhamand Williams were appointed on the <br />Committee from this bo~v. <br /> <br />On motion, <br /> <br />adj ou~aed. <br /> <br /> <br />
