Boa~d of Aldermen. <br /> <br />Gentlemen:-- Your Finance <br /> <br />Committee respectfully reports <br /> <br />herein concerning the following matters referred to the Joint Finance 0ommittee July 8-15, 1913: <br /> <br />Referred by 6ommon Council July 8tho <br /> <br /> Matter of appealing case of E. Par~e Lindsay against the City £or lowering water pipes on County <br />and Glasgow streets, with power to instruct the Ci~yAttorney regarding same. <br /> It is recommended that the City Attorney be instructed to appeal the case to the Supreme <br />Court of Appeals of Virginia~ <br /> <br /> A bill of Mrs. Agnes Dunn for $75.00, <br />Fire Company's House. <br /> It is recommended that said bill <br />the deed has been executed to the City. <br /> <br />for a piece of land sold the City in rear of. the Union <br />be paid, and that the City Clerk advise the Council when <br /> <br /> A bill of D. S. Phiegar to amount of $67.50, for reporting and transcribing evidence in case of <br />Margaret Lee vs. the City of Portsmouth. <br /> It is recommended that a special appropriation to said amount be made to pay the ~ill~ <br /> <br /> Authorized to have voucher drawn and payment made of amount, approximating $8,000.00, due the <br />contractors for work-performed in the paving of upper High street, when bills for same are properly <br />approved, and to report action to next regular meetings of Councils. <br /> This m~tter was referred to the Auditing Committee by the Board of Aldermen, and therefore <br />we report that the Finance Oommittee has no power to act thereon. <br /> <br />Reports of the Auditor, Treasurer, and Sixth.and Seventh Ward Boards for June, 1913. <br /> Progress as to~sameo <br /> <br /> (With City,Attorney).
