<br /> A communication.was received from the City Clerk of Norfolk, enclosing "A Preliminary Ordinance
<br />Providing for the Consolidation of the Cities of Norfolk and
<br /> Ths communication was ordered to file and the Clerk instructed to notify the Counsils of
<br />Norfolk that said ordinance will be held under ~dvisement by this body.
<br />
<br /> ~ petition of the School Board of an appropriation of $7,000.00 to pay teachers, janitors, and
<br />bills of the Public Schools for the month of October, 1915, was referred to the Finance Committee,
<br />and on motion~ said Committee was requested to act at once on said petition.
<br />
<br /> Mr. Mari~ham, a delegate from this body to the League of Virginia Municipalities at Roanoke, Va.,
<br />October 14 & 15th, gave a highly interesting account of the proceedings of Said Convention.
<br />
<br /> Mr. Montague moved as the sense of this body that after October Sl, 1913, the City will not per-
<br />mit the holding of any more carnivals on the playground at the corner of l~t~e and Third streets.
<br /> The motion was adopted.
<br />
<br /> On motion of Mr. Davis, the advisability of a light at the corner of North and Effingham streets
<br />was referred to the L~gh~ Committee.
<br />
<br />Mr. Davis moved also that the question of an increase of salary for the
<br />be referred to the Finance Committee to be considered for the Budget of 1914.
<br /> The motion was adopted.

<br />Market ~$ frequently ~nattentive to his duties and suggested that he be d~sch~ged from such seryice.

<br /> On motion of Mr. Williams, the 8t2eet Committee was urged to take up with the Virginia Railway
<br />& Power Company the providing of street car service for West Park View, and to do all that it is pos~
<br />sible for the CoEmittee to do in the premises.
