<br /> Mr.~Pile offered the following resolution, which was adopted:
<br /> "Whereas, the Public Works Officer
<br />of the Navy Yard desires to confer with the proper authorities of the City of Portsmouth about ob-
<br />taining a supply of water for the U. S. Government.at St. Julien's Eag~zi~e, ~ .
<br /> "Therefore Be it Resolved, That the request be referred to.the Joint Water Co~m~ittee of the
<br />Council and the Board of Water-Commissioners of the City of Portsmouth to confer with the said Public
<br />Works Officer and to make such.reDort and recommendations to the Court, ii as they may deem advisable."
<br />
<br /> On motion of Mr. Langhorne, the Ferry Committee was instructed to ascertain ~he authority by
<br />which, the Terries Company makes use of regular ferry~boats for any other purpose than those for which
<br />they are leased.
<br />
<br /> Er. Markham moved to refer to Street Committee, the advisability of paving with plastic pavement
<br />the causeway on Oourt street, from Cl£fford to Wythe. The motion was adopted.
<br />
<br /> By the same, to curb and gutter south side of Wythe street, from Court to Third, and west side
<br />of Third, from Wythe to Harrison. The motion was adopted.
<br />
<br /> On motion of ~Lr. Williams, the advisability of paving Cooke street, from Glasgow to Harrell~ was
<br />referred to Street Committee.
<br />
<br /> On motion of Mr. Pile, ~the attention of ~he Fire Committee was called to condition of two horses
<br />now used by the Annex Fire Company. The me, ion was adopted.
<br />
<br /> Mr. Langhorne moved tha~ the Street Committee provide in the Budget of 1914 for paving of Craw-
<br />ford street, from High to London. The motion was adopted.
<br />
<br /> On motion of Mr.~t~rivett, the advisability of extending the pavement of Effingham street, from
<br />~ounty to South~ was referred to Street 0ommittee.
<br />
<br /> Mr. Williams asked the Chairmen of the ~everal Committees to p=epare statements of the needs of
<br />their Depai~mments for the yeax 1914.
