<br /> Your Committee begs to submit a form of contract which they think would be prooer to
<br />enterinto with the Virginia Railway & Power Company, for lighting High street with cluster
<br />lights, and they recommend the adoption of such contract subject to its being p~ in legal form
<br />by the City Attorney.

<br /> To authorize the .Public Property Committee to change certain details as to manner of heat-
<br />ing the "M~uicipal Building,,, at a cost of SZO0.O0, said amount to come out of appropriation to
<br />new Clerk's office.~

<br /> Ail of the above were concurred in, but on motion of Nr~ Langhorne~ the Public Proper-
<br /> ty Committee was instructed to ascertain if the Architect of the ~Municipal Building. is not
<br /> sponsible for the additional, cost of SEO0.O0 for the heating plant.

<br /> The Board concurred also in all recommendations of Committees adopted by the Common
<br /> Council, except the recommendation concerning the paving of Glasgow street, from Godwin to the
<br /> Scott Creek bridge,~ which said matter was recommitted to the Street Committee.

<br /> The Board did not concur with the Common Council in passing the following appropria-
<br />tions over the Mayor's veto ~f~same: $8,948.4~ to pave Chestnut street, from south side of Glas-
<br />gow to south side of South, and $~00-.85 to cover cost of Inspection, &c., out of new issue of
<br />bonds; SB, O00.O0 to meet expenses of Board of ~ater C~missioners for the current year; and
<br />500.00 to extend Dinwiddie street southward to Fifth, out of anticipated receipts from sale of~
<br />bonds as provided i~ the budget for l~l~.

<br />cil for concurrence~

<br /> To authorize the Public Property Committee to proceed against the Ferries Comoany to re=
<br /> cover cost of heating the ~zty off~oes mn the ferry bumld~ng durmng occupancy by the City, said
<br /> Comp~hy having contracted to furnish heat, light, &c., for said offices.
<br />
<br /> The Chairman of the Public Property Committee explained that when the rooms in the Fer-
<br /> ry building were~rented for City offices, it was an understood agreement between his Committee
<br /> ~.'dth~ Superintendent of.~he F~rie~ that. The Ferries Company was to i~rnish lights for the of-
<br /> · ces ~res, an~ his ~ommi~ee, ~nere~ore, nad dectzned to approve of bills for such lights, and
<br /> the action of the Com~mittee, he supposed~ had brought about the action of t~e~Boa~d of Aldermen
<br /> n~t to allow The Ferries Co~y Day for heating of such offices.
<br /> Mr. Davis, of the Board of Alderm~n~ who was present~ was atlowed the privil~ge of the
<br /> floo~ to exnlain the action of the Bo~d.
<br /> N~. Davis said, in substance, t~t he~s the mover of the ~d,
<br />if as h~ ~derstood the ~tter, the City offices were to be occupied withou~ the
<br />City t~ pa~ent of $80.00 per month for s~e, he could not understand why be
<br />called upon to pay for~$~ing any more than for lighting said offices.
<br /> Mr. Parrish thenmoved a non-c~c~ence in action of the ~rd, was
<br />adopted.
