<br /> A communication was received from the Chief of the Fire Department, stating that ~he Fire
<br />Board had appointed Geo. M. Peed to act as its Secretary: that he had been serving as such from
<br />January I, 1913, and that a small salary had been allowed to pay the Secretary in the "budget~
<br />for 1913. _
<br /> On motion, the Clerk was instructed to notify the Auditor of said appointment.

<br /> ~r. Hawks moved to refer to Public Property Committee to consider the advisabilit~ Of re-
<br />arranging lights in the Council Chamber. The motion was adopted.

<br /> Mr. Cross moved to refer to Public Property to consider again the matter of providing a
<br />storage room for the auto-patroI wagon, and the motion was adopted.
<br />
<br /> By the same, to refer to Finance and Police .Committees for an appropriation of $150;00 to
<br />meet rental and other expenses of the Central Police Station. The motion was adopted.
<br />
<br /> The Chairman of the Public Property Committee asked for instructions as to what to do with
<br />the furniture in the~former Council Chamber and old City offices.
<br /> On motion of Mr. Hawks, the Committee was instructed to distribute such furniture a-
<br />mong such City Officers as the Committee may~hink advisable~ and to dispose of the remainder,
<br />if there be any, to the highest bidder.

<br /> Mr. Parker moved that the City Attorney be instructed tO dr~ft a contract between the Oity
<br />and McGuire Construction Company for the improvemen~ of High street to amount of
<br /> The motion was a~opted.

<br /> On motion of Mr. Hawks, the City Treasurer was instructed to return to unsuccessful bid-
<br />ders checks given with bids for improvement work on High street in the Sixth Ward.
<br />
<br /> The Chairman of the Public Property Committee stated that four phones would be needed for
<br />the Municipal Building, and he asked for instructions concerning same.
<br /> Whereupon, on motion of Mr. Hanvey, the Public property Committee was instructed to
<br />report at the next meeting of Council the number of phones needed, their location, and cost of
<br />same.
<br />
<br /> Mr. Johnson moved to refer to Fire Committee the advisability of putting paid men of the
<br />Fire Department on the same basis as the Police Department, that is to say that they continue
<br />in office during good behavior. The motion was adopted.
<br />
<br /> Mr. Tyler moved to refer to Public Property Committse to consider fitting up for the City
<br />~ollee~to~, Trea~urer'and~Comm£ssioner of Revenue, rooms in the Courthouse formerly used by the
<br />City, and ~ authorize the~Pm~lid Property Committee to have plans prepared and presented~to
<br />Council for same. The motion was adopted.
