Morgan, <br /> Mark maunder s, 10. <br /> <br />The minutes of regular meetings June 9th and July 14th were read a~d were approved. <br /> <br /> REPORTS OF COMMITTEES. <br /> Auditing--- <br /> Reported having examined bills against the City for the month of July, 1914, <br /> <br />and they recommended th~ payment of same to the following amounts: ~B, 56B. lO for the O£ty Pro- <br />per; $~7.75 for the Sixth Ward; and $1~O~jOS: for the Seventh Ward. <br /> <br /> · The report having been read~ the Clerk stated for the Ohairman of the Auditing Com- <br />mmttee that there were .sundry other bills to amount o~ $1,08~.84 for the City Proper~ $I~9.47 <br />for the 2ixth Ward; and $1.~0 for the Seventh Ward whmch, though approved by One Chairman only, <br />he would recommend for payment, believing said bills to be-correct, <br /> Whereupon, oni~otion, all the ~bills presented for payment were allowed and by the fol- <br />lowing vote: <br /> Ayes--Oorbitt.-Hall, White, Parrish, Hanvey, Herbert, Moore, JOhnson, Cross, <br /> Hawks, ~oughton, Cooke, <br /> <br />Finance-- <br /> <br />Hon. Common Counoil~ <br /> <br />Gentlemen:-- Your Einance Committee respecti~lly <br /> <br />reports <br /> <br />herein concerning the foltowing~mattere referred to the Joint Finance Committee July 1A--E1, June <br /> <br />9-17, and May 12, 1914: <br /> <br />Referred by Common Council July l~th. <br /> <br /> An appropriation to supply the Sewer Power House with 700 tons, more or less, <br />steam coal, at $$.0~ per <br /> It is recommended that an appropriation to pay for ~aid coal be allowed. <br /> <br />of Pocahontas <br /> <br />Reports of the AuditoT, Treasurer, and Sixth and~eventh Nard Boards for June, 1914. <br /> Progress as to same. <br /> <br /> A request of the Treasurer to borrow Szo,o00. to meet Current Expenses for August~ 1914. <br /> It is recommended that said request be granted=and thatthe following resolution be <br />adopted to cover same: <br /> Resolved, That the Treasurer be, and he is her~,~y, authorized to make <br />notes in The Bank of Portsmouth, The Merchants' & Farmers' Bank, theba~.of Tidewater, and The <br />First National Bank of Portsmouth, to amount of Twenty Thousand Dollars ($20,000~00), to meet <br />Current Expenses for the month of August, 1~14; said am*ant to be repaid from revenues of the <br />City for the current year. - <br /> <br /> A report of~ the Auditor of following bills held up by him, because ~f lack of appropriation <br />or because they exceededl$l~ of appropriation allowed for same: Almshouse, $~.00; Board of <br />Health, $7.$$; Fire, $~.?0; Tramh % Garbage, $1t?.00; Sixth Ward~$1~178.?Z; and also a bill <br />Eas~er~ ~redg~nE Co~ ~o amount of $1,4.P~..07, held up by instructions from the Mayor. <br /> It ms recommended that said bmlle be allowed. <br /> <br /> (With Power to Act). To make available $~,B40. for' land purchased for the extension of <br />Dinwiddie street. <br /> We report that we have instructed the Auditor to issue war=ants to cover amounts due <br />for said extension. <br /> <br /> <br />
