Gentlemen:--Your Fire Committee respectfully reports herein concerning the following matters referred to the Joint Fire Committee December 15, 191~: Referred by Board of Aldermen Dec. 1Bth. A communication from the Fire Board concerning the use of engine houses to hold elections. It is recommended that, in accordance with request of the Fire Boam~ therefor, the several City Fire Department headquarters shall not hereafter be Used for votlngprecinets. A petition of the Fire Boa~d that the bell at the Union Fir~. House be connected with the Fire Alarm System. As the Independent ~2~gine House is the only engmne .house connected atthis time with the City fire alarm syst~m~ it is recommended tha~ no further ~xtenSion of the fire alarm system be made with the engine houses until the City is prepared to make ~dh extensions with all of them. Gentlemen:-- ¥ou~ Ferries & Public Docks Com- mitres respectfully reports he~ein concerning the following matters referred to the Joint Fer- ries & P~biic Docks Committee December B~ Nov. !0, and October l~ t~14: Refer:ed by Common Council Dece~ocr Sth. Instructed to take up with the ferry authorities a nuisance caused by boot blacks plying ~eir vocation in the ferry houses, boat cabins, and about the cabin doors. We report that this matte~ has been adjusted satisfactorily. Referred by Common Council November 10th. A Dommunication from A, Rothschild in regard to removal of ~u old shed on the ferry proper~ ty in£ront of~the Southern Express Company's building. We report that, inasmuch as the said building is covered by lease held by the Norfolk County Fern-des Co.~ it is deemed improper to suggest the taking of any steps as to same. However, if the building is in such conditiom as has been suggested in this communica- tion,~any parties affected thereby can ~btain relief by applying to the Chief of the Fire De- partment for the removal, and hence relieve the City and Norfolk County from any loss on account of such removal. ~eferred by Common Council October l~th. A communication from The Consolidated Investment Co., Inc., offering for sale to the City for a Municipal Dock, the "Cat Hole" property. To,refer the following matters to.Finance Committee, with power to act: (a) To pat bills for all unsettled accounts out of any available funds on hand. (b) To provide for the December pay roll, pending adoption of the Budget for 191~. (e) Matter of closing up accounts on the Treasurer's books. (d) To transfer from "Contingent" fund to "Court Expenses" a~sufficient amount to cove~ any jury bills due (about $SB. O0).
