October 4, 1994 <br /> <br /> At a Special Called Meeting of the City Council held on <br />Tuesday, October 4, 1994, there were present: <br /> <br /> Mayor Gloria O. Webb, Vice Mayor Johnny M. Clemons, Bernard <br />D. Griffin, Sr., James C. Hawks, *James T. Martin, Cameron C. <br />Pitts, P. Ward Robinett, Jr., V. Wayne Orton, City Manager, <br />Stuart E. Katz, City Attorney. <br /> <br />94-391 - The following call for the meeting was read: <br /> <br /> "Please attend a special called meeting of the City CounciZ <br />to be held in the City Council Chamber, 6th floor of City Hall, <br />801 Crawford Street, at 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 4, 1994, for <br />the purpose of a Public Work Session. <br /> <br /> In addition, you may consider a motion to go into an <br />Executive Session. <br /> <br />By order of the Mayor." <br /> <br />94-392 - The following items were discussed in the Public Work <br />Session: <br /> <br />1. David's Nightclub/Ebony Showcase Nightclub <br />2. Zoning Development Alternatives <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Hawks, and seconded by Mr. Martin, to go into <br />Executive Session pursuant to provisions of Section 2.1-344 of <br />the Code of Virginia for the following: <br /> <br /> (1) Discussion or consideration of a personnel matter <br />involving the City Manager's staff, as permitted under <br />Subsection (A) {1); <br /> <br /> (2) Consideration of the use or acquisition of real <br />property for public purpose or the disposition of publicly held <br />real property in the southern, Port Centre, Portside and central <br />portions of the City, as permitted under Subsection (A)(3). <br /> <br />The motion was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Clemons, and seconded by Mr. Martin, pursuant <br />to Section 2.1-344.1 of the Code of Virginia certifying that to <br />the best of the Council member's knowledge during the <br />immediately preceding Executive Session of the City Council: <br /> <br /> (1) Only public business matters lawfully exempted from <br />open meeting requirements by the Virginia Freedom of Information <br />Act, and <br /> <br /> (2) Only such public business matters as were identified <br />in the motion by which the Executive Session was convened, were <br />heard, discussed or considered in the meeting by the City <br />Council. <br /> <br />The motion was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br /> On motion meeting adjourned at <br /> <br />~ebb <br />Mayor <br /> <br />9:10 p.m. <br /> <br />~~ittman, CMC/AAE <br /> City Clerk <br /> <br />*Councilman James ° - ~ <br /> Mart~n arrived at 5:20 p.m. <br /> <br /> <br />
