Narkham, the advisability of permitting property holders to pay their annual taxes in two periods, instead of one period as at present, was re£erred ~o Finance Com- mit tee. Mr. Markham presented a proposed ordinance with regard to "jitney busses," and same was referred to Ordinance Committee. Mr.~Davis presented the following resolution,.which was referred to Cemetery Committee: "~hereas, there appears to be an urgent necessity for the acquirement by the City of ~and for cemetery p~vposes, and at a time when it is necessary ~o consider the financial abil- zty of the City to znc,~ further debt, interest charges, &c~, and~ ' "Whereas, the City is in possession of more than ample land for said purpose, said land not being used or needed for other pum~ooses, and absolutely unprofitable and non-productive Of revenue, · · "Resolved, That the tract of land on which the Almshouse is located be used for ceme- tery purposes, improvmng fr, om time to time such portions ~hereof as eccasionmay require." On motion of .~t~rl Barlow, the advisability of an adding machine for the City Collector was referred to Finance Committee. A communication was read from the Sanitary Inspector concerning necessity for screening the City Market and same was referred to Public Pr~oerty & Schools Committee.
