Reynolds, 6. <br /> <br />The minutes of the regular meeting July 13th were read and were approved. <br /> <br />Auditing-- <br /> <br /> REPORTS OF COMMITTEES. <br /> <br />The Auditor reported having examined bills against the <br /> <br />City for the month of <br /> $4, E76.04 for the <br /> <br />July, 1915, and recommended payment of tk~ same to the following amounts: <br /> <br />City P~oper; $51.05 for the Sixth Ward; and $836.43 for the Seventh Ward. <br /> <br /> On motion, the bills were allowed and by the following vote: <br /> Ayes--¢orbitt, Herbert, <br /> .Burgess, Hanvey, Moo~e (Joe. $.), H~tchine. Common Council---Board of Alde~men. <br /> Gentlemen:-- Tour Finance Committee re- <br /> <br />speotfully reports herein concerning the following matters referred to the Joint Finance Commit- <br /> <br />~ee July 13-E!, 1S15: <br /> Referred by Common Council July 13th. <br /> <br /> An appropriation of $150. for repairs to the r~of of the City Jail. Progress as to same. <br /> <br /> An appropriation of $~0. for repair of brick work on front of the Independent Engine House. <br /> It is recommended that said appropriation be allowed, out of appropriation in the B~_,d- <br />get for "Houses." <br /> <br /> Ar. appropriation of $750. for heating plant and for water and sewerage pipe connections at <br />the Jail. <br /> It is recommended that a special appropriation ~o said amount be allowed for the pur- <br />poses named. <br /> <br /> An appropriation ~ E. C. Stafford, fireman, for six days lost from duty on account of in- <br />Juries received by him. <br /> It is recommended that a special appropriation of $1Z.50 be allowed to said fireman <br />for said time lost. <br /> <br /> An appropriation to the Portsmouth Suburban ~ater Go. for rental of Z9 hydra, ts in the 8ixthi <br />and Seventh Wards each, for ~uarter ending March 31, 1~i5, at the rate of $40. per hydrant. <br /> We report that we are awaiting a.statement from the Portsmouth Suburban Water Co. in <br />regard to hyd~an~ rental due ~Fthe Sixth and Seventh Wards and will make.recommendation as to <br />same in the Budget for 1916. <br /> <br /> An appropriation to supply, the Sewerage Power House for one year with 700 tons of Pocahon- <br />tas Steam Coal, at $3.04 per ton. <br /> We report that this appropriation has been provided for in the Budget for 1~15. <br /> <br /> Matter_of.instructin$ the Commissioner ~ the ~evenu~ to assess a License Tax of $100. a- <br />gainst the ~or~smouth ~awngs & Loan Oorporatzon; and if $300. has been paid by said Company to <br />have $~00. refunded it. <br /> We report that there is a difference cf opinion as to construction of this section of <br />the License Tax Ordinance and, under advice of the City Attorney, it is recommended that the <br />COuncil take no action in the matter and'allow the parties who may feel aggrieved by said ordi- <br />nance to apply to the Court for proper $~nstruction of it. <br /> <br />Reports of Officers for the month of June, 1915. <br /> We report that said reports have be~n examined and <br /> <br />it is recommended that <br /> <br />they be filed. <br /> <br /> A report of the Auditor of following bills held up by him, because of lack of ~ppropr~ation <br />or because they exceeded 1~i$ of appropriation allowed for sam~: Publi~ Property, $1B4.S~ Fire, <br />$54.47; Police, $40.44. <br /> It is recommended that $54.49 be ai~owed to pay Public Pronertv bills out of re~,lar <br />approprza~zon to ~P~bhc Property Department; a specmal appropnatzgn of $38. to pay some of said <br />b~lte~.ana that bml!s amounting to $~E. AO be sent back to the Publzc Property~Committee for-ex- <br />p&ana~lon. <br /> It is ~ecommended that a special appropriation of $E6. be allowed to pay Fire .bills <br />and the balance of $E8~7 reSOrted be paid out of regular appropriation to Fire Department. <br /> And it is recommended that a special appropriation of $3.40 be allowed to pay Police <br />bills and the balance of $37.04 reported be paid out of regular appropriation to Police Depart- <br />ment. <br /> <br /> A petition of the Sixth Ward Board to be ~ilowed to use $60. of its "Contingent. fund <br />catching dogs. <br /> It is recommended that said amount be allowed for the purpose ~amed, out of ~ixth Wa~d <br /> <br /> <br />
