Frey, Henry Pile~ 9- <br /> <br />The Vice-President of the Board presiding. <br /> <br />The minutes of the regula~ meeting June 20th ~nd special meeting June 30th were read. <br />~ereupon, Er. Narkham stated that the minutes of June 20th were not complete, in that they <br />did not contain a motion made by him, and adopted, with reference to a legal opinion given by <br />the City Attorney as to the right of Mr. Frey to VoteOn the~eleotion cf sites for the new High <br />School and colored School buildings. <br /> Then Mr. Cart moved that the minutes of June 20th be corrected accordingly and be adopted <br />with such correction. The motion was lost. <br /> After some discussion of the matter, Mr. Browne moved that the minutes of June 20th stand <br />as recorded. <br /> The motion by Mr. Browne ~ms adopted, mud then the minutes o~ June 30th~were s~iopted also. <br /> <br />(Present ~r. Davis]. <br /> <br />Finance-- <br /> <br />Hon. <br /> <br /> REPORTSOF CO.~/EITTEES. <br /> <br />Common Council--Board of Aldermen. <br /> Gentlemen:-- Your Finauce Committee respect- <br /> <br />fully reports herein concerning the following matters ~eferred to the Joint Finance Committee <br /> <br />June l~-20th, 1916, and December 28th, 1915: <br /> <br />Referred by Common Council June l~th. <br /> <br /> Instructed to make notes in the several City ba~s to amount of $25,000. for sites for the <br />new High School and colored School buildings; said amount to be included in the bond issue for <br />Schools, but to be ~urned into general funds when bonds are sold. <br /> We report that we she/1 arrange to borrow the $25,000. when same shall have been con- <br />curred in by the Board of Aldermen. <br /> <br /> Authorized to make notes in the several City baaks for $6,000. as a substitute for interest <br />on Street Paving Bond funds used by the City; <br /> We report that this appropriation will be provided for. <br /> <br /> An appropriation of $5Y5. with freightage for a Repair Outfit, out of allowance for "Repairs <br />to Streete amd Repair Outfit" in the Budget.. <br /> It is recommended that the appropriation be allowed, as requested. <br /> <br />An ~ppropriation of $315. to repair thefeed room of the Park View-engine house. <br /> ~ It is recommended that a special appropriation to said amount be allowed. <br /> <br /> An appropriation of $225. for a fire proof door for the old vault and a steel money chest <br />for the office of the City Collector. <br /> Progress as to same. <br /> <br />Reports of Officers for the month of May, 19i6. <br /> We report that'maid reports have been examined and it is recommended that they be filed. <br /> <br /> To ascertain the cost of pensioning ail City employees, under the same conditions as pro- <br />vided for in the ordinance to pension firemen s~ud policemen. <br /> No action on same by this Committee, as ~he ordinance wms not s~iopted by the Board of <br />Aldermen June SOth. <br /> <br /> ~ petition of the employees of the Sewerage <br />semi-monthly. <br /> It is recommended thkt per diem men of <br />the others be paid as now paid. <br /> <br />Department to be paid off weekly, instead of <br />said Department be paid off weekly, and that <br /> <br /> (With Street Committee) A petition Zrom the Oommittee for the "Commission for the~Purchase <br />and Improvement of Roses of Norfolk County" t~at the City-assist it in the improvement of County <br />roads leading into the City. <br /> We report that while heartily endorsing the movement, we feel that the financial con- <br />dition of the City at this time will prevent ~he recommending of an appropriation for the County <br />ro~ds leading into the Oity. However, we m~y be ~b'le to do something on this line in the near <br />future. <br /> <br /> (With Public Property & Schools Committee) A request of the Park Commission for approval ~ <br />of the employment of a m au director for a period ~t exceeding two months at a salary of $~5. <br />per month and a lady director for the same time and at the same salary~ provided the total sal- <br />aries paid come out of the approprimtlon fo= same in the Budget of 1918. <br /> It is recommended that the request be graated, the ~pp=opriation to come out of bmlance <br /> <br />of the appropriation in the Budget for "Playground." <br /> <br /> To Consider the advisability of issuing $225,000. <br />of High School and colored School buildings. <br /> Progress. <br /> <br />A report of the <br /> <br />of School bonds to be used in the erection <br /> <br /> Referred by Board of Aldermen June 20th. <br /> <br />Auditor of the following bills held up by him, because of Iackof appropria- <br />~v~M 1/t~ ~ ~rf~tt~n for ~ame: Fire. ~22.q~; General Admtnietra- <br /> <br /> <br />
