(See action on same under head of "Unfinished <br />Business,). <br /> <br />8 to 8. <br />meeting~ <br /> <br /> A hill of the City ~ttorne~ to amount of $12.60, paid for stenographic work in the case <br /> of the Portsmouth & Norfolk Corpora~tio~ vs. the City, was ~llowed. <br /> <br /> Mr. Baldwin stated that some time since there was referred to the Cemetery Committee the <br /> advisability~. -. of cutting a g~teway in 0~k Grove Cemetery, on the west side, for convenience of <br />c~tmzens in the Sixth Ward; but that no-~ction hexl been taken in the matter, and he moved to <br />have same recommitted. The motion was adopted. <br /> <br /> Er. Morgan stated that the m~t~er of putting a light on the West Park View B2idge had been <br />~eferred to the Light Committeemen November 9th~and as said Committee had not reported thereon, <br />he would move that, under the rules, said Committee be discharged from further consideration of <br />same; and that the Finance and ~ight committees be instructed to have the light placed on said <br />bridge. The motion w~s adopted. · <br /> <br /> A resolution was read from the Portsmouth Bus,ness Non s Association in regard to the Govern- <br />ment maintaining a free ferry service between the Navy Yard a~ud the City of Norfolk for the bene- <br />fit of employees of the Yard who live in that City, and requesting the co-operation of Council <br />in making a lo~otest to the Government against such ferry. <br /> ~r. Morga~.mo~d not to ~ndorse the action of the B. N~ A. <br /> Er. See mgreed with ~Ir~ Morgan and said he thought the Council should go on record as <br />appro~i~ng the course of"the Government. <br /> Mr. ~ioore (Joe. S.) thought the resolution a proper one and that same should be endorsed. <br /> Er. B_urgess moved that a Committee from the two branches of Council and the Beaird of Su- <br />pervisors be appointed to handle the m~ter. <br /> Er.-Leavitt said he did not see why the Council can not endorse the resolution. <br /> Er. Hmnvey~favored Er. ~rge~s's motion, but Mr. Reynolds did not ~avor it. Whereupon~ Mr. Bu~gess's motion was lost by~ a vote of-8 to 8. <br /> Er. See's amendment to endorse the Government!s action was lost by a vote of S to 8. <br /> '~r. Morgan's motion not to endorse the action of the B; E.
