<br />other tax imposed by this ordinance.

<br /> Each person, firm or corporation selling fruits, nuts or confectioneries from the side-
<br />walks, $30.00.
<br />
<br /> It shall be unlawful for anyperson, except agents for manufacturers, to use any wmgons
<br />or other vehi~les for the puz~oose Of peddling, within the limits of the City of Portsmouth,
<br />without having first registered with the Chief of Police, his name and place of residence,
<br />s~ud the nature and date and tenure of his license to do business within the said city. And
<br />there shall be at all times provided and kept at police headquarters by the Chief of Police a
<br />permanent record of such registration,~showlng the name, date ~nd serial number of said li-
<br />cense; and the said record shall be open to public inspection.
<br /> No person shall be permitted to register as aforesaid, or to peddle, while using a wagon,
<br />vehicle or other means in connection with such peddling, until he first shall have procured
<br />a license for s~ch privilege~ for which said privilege he sh~ll pay a specific ts~x of $300. for
<br />each w~gon, veht01e or such other means of peddling°
<br />
<br /> Each person occupying the public streets for the sale of goods, not oth~rwmse taxed, $5.
<br />per week or p~rt thereof.
<br />
<br /> Each book agent~ ~elling books, maps, or pictures by subscription, or canvassing for same,
<br />(other tha~ religious cooks), $10.00.

<br /> Each person who shall barter or sell the right to maaufact-o~ve or use any machinery or other
<br />articles patented under the laws of the United States, unless the patentee be a citi$~n of the
<br />United States, $25.00.

<br /> Each land agent, $50.00; and each agent for renting houses or collecting rents of .houses,
<br />$15.o9o Provided, however, where there is a firm doing business as such agents at the same
<br />localmty, s~id tax sh~ll be on the firm and not on each member thereof.

<br />representation, or taking orders for delivering of same, except from merchants or other persons
<br />located in the city and de~ling in such articles, $1. per day.

<br /> Dealers in or agents of cash registers, typewriters~ or s~dding machines, $25. in addition
<br />to any other license tax.
