Dashiell presented a petition from the Portsmouth Library Association, asking that <br />the roof and chimneys of the building occupied by it be repaired. <br /> On motion, the-Public Property Department .was authorized to ~ertlse for bi'ds for <br />the work and report on same at the next meeting of the Council. <br /> <br /> He presented also a communication from the Clerk of the ~arket calling attention to the <br />unsmnitmry condition of th~ Vegetable Market. <br /> On motion, said communicmtion w~s referred to the Public Property Department to con- <br />sider ~e previous motion on the subject of the Market. <br /> <br /> The mttentionoof the ~body w~s omlled to a crack in the Confederate Monument on Court street <br />mud, on motion, th~ Public'Property Department was authorized to-haVe Er. Fred <br />Bonney, D~strict ~ager of ~he Chesapeake & Potomac Telephone Company concerning telephone' <br />service in this City. ' <br /> And to receive m report from ~the Finance Department as to an mpp~oprlation to meet expenses <br />of the Committee leaving the City with regard to selection of a City Manager. <br /> <br />Those present were: <br /> <br />Messrs.- 0scX~Dashiell, J~ T.
