The City Attorney 0f..the~CitY shall be ~nd hereby is <br />directed to file a copy Of this' ~solution, certified by the <br />City Clerk of the City to be a true copy thereof, with the <br />Circuit Court of the City, in accordance with Section <br />15.1-227.9 of the Code of Virginia, 1950. <br /> <br /> 6. This resolution shall <br />adoption." <br /> <br />Ayes: Clemons, Griffin, Hawks, <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />take effect from the date of its <br />Martin, Pitts, Robinett, Webb <br /> <br />- NEW BUSINESS - <br /> <br />94-468 Boards and Commissions <br /> <br />There were no appointments. <br /> <br />94-469 - Items Submitted by Council Members <br /> <br />Councilman C~uneron Pitts requested that personal contact be <br />made with business owners along Mt. Vernon Avenue when a <br />community wide problem occurs. <br /> <br />94-470 - Receipt of Other Communications <br /> <br />There were no other communications. <br /> <br />94-471 - Continued Non-Agenda Speakers <br /> <br />There were no other speakers. <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Griffin, and seconded by Mr. Clemons, <br />into Executive Session pursuant to provisions of Section <br />2.1-344 of the Code of Virginia for the following: <br /> <br />to go <br /> <br /> (1) Discussion or consideration of a personnel matter <br />involving the performance of a member of the City Manager's <br />Staff, as permitted under Subsection (A)(1). <br /> <br />The motion was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Clemons, and seconded by Mr. Hawks, pursuant <br />to Section 2.1-344.1 of the Code of Virginia certifying that to <br />the best of the Council member's knowledge during the <br />immediately preceding Executive Session of the City Council: <br /> <br /> (1) Only public business matters lawfully exempted <br />open meeting requirements by the. Virginia Freedom of <br />Information Act, and <br /> <br />from <br /> <br /> (2) Only such public business matters as were identified <br />in the motion by which the Executive Session was convened, were <br />heard, discussed or considered in the meeting by the City <br />Council. <br /> <br />The motion was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br />On motion meeting was adjourned at 9:30 p.m. <br /> <br />APPROVED - ~ <br /> <br /> Mayor <br /> <br />Sh AA . <br /> City Clerk <br /> <br />*Councilman Pitts felt that River Boat Gambling was the <br />government's way of proposing an immoral act by using the lure <br />of quick cask and greed to seduce'its citizens to gamble for the <br />benefit of tax payments to the city. He also stated that he <br />supported all other initiatives contained in the 1995 <br />Legislative Proposals. <br /> <br /> <br />
