Authorized to have Mr. Archibald 0gg examine the ~ondition of the Confederate Monument on Court street, and to report to the Council the result of s~id ex~ination. An appropriatio$, out of Seventh Wa~d~ funds, to fill holes, fix corners and resurface ~he p~ved streets in the Seventh Ward. It is recommended that mn estimate of this work be m~de under the supervision of the City Engineer, the cost of same to come out of Seventh Ward funds. ~A proposition to use the money from s~le o~ the lot of land owned by the City at the corner of Court a~d Eourth streets ~or the construction of a seven-foot sidewa~lk at this point, and the re~inder to be used in paving on Wyth~ street. · We report that we will recommend dispoes~l of the funds nfter the lot is sold. An appropriation to increase the salary.of the P~-.~umbin~ Inspector to $125. per month. We report that s~me will be considered for t~e Budget of 1~17. An appropriation of $35. tO repair the roof and chimneys of the building occ~oled by the Portsmouth Library Asso-ciation.
