The City Manager is hereby authorized and directed, if and to the extent <br />necessary in the opinion of bond, to submit an application to the Virginia Small Business <br />Financing Authority requesting an allocation of $2,800,000.00 pursuant to Title 15.2, <br />Chapter 50 of the Code of Virginia (1950), as amended, with respect to the issuance of <br />the Bonds." <br /> <br />Ayes: Benn, Griffin, Moody, Pitts, Robinett, Whitehurst, Holley <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />01 -119 - Adoption of a resolution authorizing the City Manager to execute a permit with <br />the City of Suffolk allowing the City of Suffolk to construct a sanitary sewage pumping <br />station on Portsmouth's watershed property in Suffolk on Murphy's Mill Road. <br /> <br />This action will provide public sewage service replacing individual septic tanks <br />and will afford additional water quality protection by replacing septic tanks that <br />have the potential to overflow into Portsmouth's Lake Meade Reservoir. <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br /> <br />· Adoption of a resolution authorizing the City Manager to execute a permit with the <br />City of Suffolk allowing the City of Suffolk to construct a sanitary sewage pumping <br />station on Portsmouth's watershed property in Suffolk on Murphy's Mill Road. <br /> <br />Purpose and Need: <br /> <br />· The City of Suffolk desires to place a sanitary sewage pumping station on <br />Portsmouth's water property to serve Suffolk's residents along the Murphy's Mill <br />Road/Palmyra Corridor. Suffolk's sewage project will provide public sewage service <br />replacing individual septic tanks. The project will afford additional water quality <br />protection by replacing septic tanks that have the potential to overflow into Portsmouth's <br />Lake Meade Reservoir. <br /> <br />Financial Impact: <br /> <br />· There are no financial considerations associated with this action. <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Whitehurst, and seconded by Mr. Robinett, to adopt the following <br />resolution, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />"A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A PERMIT <br />WITH THE CITY OF SUFFOLK FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF A SANITARY <br />SEWER PUMP STATION ON PORTSMOUTH'S WATERSHED PROPERTY IN THE <br />CITY OF SUFFOLK. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Suffolk, as part of the Utility Fund Neighborhood Sanitary <br />Sewer Extension Program, is installing sanitary sewer improvements within the <br />Murphy's Mill Road area; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the sanitary sewer improvements include the construction of a new <br />pump station located on City of Portsmouth property adjacent to Portsmouth's Lake <br />Meade Reservoir; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the construction of said sanitary sewer improvements will help <br />safeguard and improve the water quality of Portsmouth's Lake Meade Reservoir, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Portsmouth supports the proposed improvements and the <br />issuance of a permit to allow such construction on City property. <br /> <br /> NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Council of the City of <br />Portsmouth, Virginia, that the City Manager is hereby directed and authorized to <br />execute a permit with the City of Suffolk for the construction of the Murphy's Mill Road <br />sanitary sewer pump station, and the City Clerk is directed to affix the Corporate Seal of <br />the City thereto and attest the same." <br /> <br />Ayes: Benn, Griffin, Moody, Pitts, Robinett, Whitehurst, Holley <br />Nays: None <br /> <br /> <br />
