January 9, 1917. At & regular meeting of the City Council January 9th there were present: Nessrs--Oscie Dashiell, J. T. Hanvey, C. H. Herbert, Jno. A. Norris, W. D. Morgan, Chas.-T. Ps~rrish, 6. On motion, the reading of the minutes of the previous meetings w~s deferred. REPORTS OF DEPARTEENTS Law-- The Department of Law submitted no written report, but submitted the folIowing verbal report[therefor: . Referred December 26th. A communication from the ~ivil & Police Justice requesting the passage of a~ ordinance regulating the use Qf the east end of High street by automobiles. Progress as to same. To draft an ordinance regulatinE the number of cows to be permitted within ~he City limits. Pro,tess. Referred December igth. To dra~ an ordin~nce-to c.o?er the salary appropriated for the City ~anager. It is recommended that the following ordinance be adopted therefor: An Ordinance Fixing the Q~alifications, Term of Office, Duties, and ~ompens~tion of the City Manage~. Jno. A. Morris, Chairman. On motion, the report of the D~par~ment w~s adopted, the recommended ordinance wit~ re- gard to the City Ear,get being ordered to lie on the table u~til the next regular meeting of the Public Service-- The Chairman reported "Progress" on mat~ers referred to his Department. Public Property-- The Chairman submitted no written report, but requested that the City ~an~ger have the ordinance with reference to the duties of the tenants and occupants of the strolls in the fish and vegetable market, &c., ~dopted December 26th, printed and posted in the marke~s; amd he so moved~ The motien was adopted. He reported also Public ~fety-- Public Welfs~re--. Finance-- that Grimes Battery Gun Room has been turned over to the City. The Chairman reported ,Progress~ on matters referred to his Department.
