<br />tions in this Budget, except that for Interest and Schools, are made in totals for the several
<br />City Departments, and ~re hereby made available on approval of the City Nanaoer,' ~ · the City Mana-
<br />ger being required to report to the Council at its first regular meeting of each month in de-
<br />tail all expenditures made for the p~eceding month,and that all funds as far as practicable be
<br />expended in equal amounts each month.

<br /> Whereupon, on motion of ~r. Herbert, the Fuel Commission of this City w"~s requested to
<br />use its best efforts to obtain coal ~n~l see that the same is equitably distributed.

<br /> Mr. Herbert moved to make available $47.22 to pay W. H. Jennings, colored Probation Officer,
<br />for oar fare, postages, stationery, ac. The motion was adopted.

<br /> A bill ~of the City Treasurer to amount of $~D~.25~ as 3 1/2% commission on $12,692.92,
<br />Real Estate collected for November, 19i7.
<br /> An Order from the Local Board Of Review of Assessments, that the assessment against Geo.
<br />R, Parri sh and Ch~s. T. Parrish, trustees under the will of Ali0e T. Parrish, for Intangible
<br />Personal Property, Class~ 3, be corrected, and placed at $6,000.00, instead of $8,000.O0.
<br /> A bill of the City Attorney to amount of $33.91, for exp~nses paid by him in connection
<br />with appeal ~f ~ase of ~he City vs. the Portsmouth-Norfolk Corpormtiou and in connection with
<br />the oas~ of the P~tsmou~h, Berkley & Suffolk Water Co. et als.
<br /> A bill of ~ A. Fiske for $15.75, for printing reply brief in the case of the City vs.
<br />the Portsmouth-Norfolk Corporation.
<br /> A bill of Ch~s. H. Jones to ~mounz of $3.~, paid in error for-soil tax ~or the year 1917,
<br />at 1701-1703 County St., Sixth Ward.
<br /> A petition of the Board of Harbor Commissioners that the City increase its appropriation
<br />to said Board from $t500. to $2000.O0 per year.
<br /> A request of the Commissioner of the Revenue that H. L. ,Watts be relieved from payment
<br />on $100. ~ailding assessed from 1910-1915, inclusive, in Brighton, and that Sarah Thomas ~e
<br />allowed to pay the taxes on the vacant lot during the period in which it w~_s in the name if
<br />Er. Watts.
