<br /> ~Whereas, L. P. Slater h~s tendered his resignation
<br /> to take effect January 1, 1918, and, to the City Council as City Clerk,
<br />
<br /> "Whereas, this Council, composed cf men who have known him for m~ny years as an effici-
<br /> ent and faith£ul City, s. ~ffioer and patriotic citizen, and one who has given valuable aid in the
<br /> conduct of City affairs,
<br />
<br /> ~here~ore Be it Resoi~ed, That we, the members of this body, commend hie ~a;t faithful-
<br />ness to the public, and regret that~he found it necessary to tender his resignation on account
<br />o~ the pressure of personal affairs, which demand a large portion of his time. That we recog-
<br />nize the vmluable ~ssista~ce he has given to the present council and councils in past years, he
<br />halving served as councilman-part cf the time as president-from l~91-.to 1900, and as City Clerk
<br />from the latter d~te to the presenm time. It is the hope a~d wish of each member here assem-
<br />bled that the future will bring to him and his family health~ happiness and prosperity,

<br /> The City Manager recommended that mli appointive City Officers hold over until the new
<br /> Officers sh~ll have been appointed by him. The ~e~mmendation w~s adopted.

<br /> The Manager spoke cf his recent trip to Washington and stated that he hs~d received a com-
<br /> munication from the Sta~e Board of Health in regard to a specia~ course of stu'dy to be given
<br />~ members of the v~rious Health Departments of the State,beginning December 2?th.
<br /> On motion, the communication w~s referred to the Department of Health fo~ consideration.
