January 10, 1995 <br /> <br /> At a Called Meeting of the City Council on Tuesday, <br />January 10, 1995, there were present: <br /> <br /> Mayor Gloria O. Webb, Vice Mayor Johnny M. Clemons, <br />Bernard D. Griffin, Sr., James C. Hawks, James T. Martin, <br />Cameron C. Pitts, P. Ward Robinett, Jr., V. Wayne Orton, City <br />Manager, Stuart E. Katz, City Attorney, <br /> <br />95-05 The following call for the meeting was read: <br /> <br /> "Please attend a Called Meeting of the City Council to be <br />held in the City Council Chamber, 6th floor of City Hall, 801 <br />Crawford Street, at 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 10, 1995, for <br />the purpose of a Public Work Session. <br /> <br /> In addition, you may consider a motion to go into an <br />Executive Session. <br /> <br />Work <br /> <br />By order of the Mayor." <br /> <br />95-06 - The following items were discussed in <br />Session: <br /> <br />the Public <br /> <br />1. IDEA Status update <br />2. Code Changes - Environmental Services Abandoned and <br /> Inoperative Vehicles <br />3. CDBG Program update <br /> Code Changes - Police Department Motor Vehicles and <br /> Traffic <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Martin, and seconded by Mr. Clemons, to go <br />into Executive Session pursuant to provisions of Section <br />2.1-344 of the Code of Virginia for the following: <br /> <br />(1) Consideration of appointments to Boards and <br />Commissions by the City Council, as permitted under Subsection <br />(A) (1); <br /> <br /> (2) Discussion or consideration of the acquisition or use <br />of real property for public purpose in the Churchland, <br />downtown, southeastern and central portions of the City, and <br />the disposition of publicly held real property in the <br />PortCentre portion of the City, as permitted under Subsection <br />(A) (3); <br /> <br /> (3) Consultation with legal counsel and briefing by staff <br />members pertaining to matters of actual litigation (Holland <br />Investment and Manufacturing Co. case, and the Adelman case), <br />requiring advice by counsel, as permitted under Subsection <br /> (A) (7) ~ <br /> <br /> (4) Consideration of the salaries or portions thereof <br />paid by the City to the Office of the Commonwealth's Attorney, <br />as permitted under Subsection (A)(1). <br /> <br />The motion was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Clemons, and seconded by Mr. Robinett, <br />'pursuant to Section 2.1-344.1 of the Code of Virginia <br /> certifying that to the best of the Council member's knowledge <br /> during the immediately preceding Executive Session of the City <br /> Council: <br /> <br /> (1) Only public business matters lawfully exempted from <br />open meeting requirements by the Virginia Freedom of <br />Information Act, and <br /> <br /> <br />
