June 6, 1918 <br /> <br />At a special mee ~mng of the City Counc~il June 6th theme were present:. <br /> <br />Nessrs-- N. P. Claud, W. H. Culpepper, D. <br /> J. T. Hanvey, C. H. Herbert~ 5. <br /> Also the City Nanager. <br /> <br />D.. Deans, <br /> <br />The following directions were read for the special meeting: <br /> <br />_L. O. Brinsonj <br /> <br /> "City Clerk & Auditor, <br /> <br />City. <br /> <br />'~Port~louth, Va., June ~th, 1918. <br /> <br /> ~Dea~ Sir:-- <br /> ~You Till please call a special meeting of the City Council-for Wednesday, <br />June 5th, at 8 o'clock P. M., to consider a resolution authorizing the renewal of a note given <br />to purchase ladd for a cemetery. <br /> <br />"Very respectfull~ <br /> <br />~J. T. Hanvey, President.~ <br /> <br /> ~b. ereupon, the fotlowi~ resolution was adopted: <br /> ~Be It Resolved~ That the City '~easurer <br />is hereby authorized by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Va., to renew a note for nine%y <br />days to ~moum. t of ~hirty-fi~e _~ousand Dollars ($35,000.00), 'due June 3rd, 1918, given in pay- <br />ment of land for a cemete_~y, with interest at the rate of six per cent~mu per azmum.~ <br /> <br />And by the following vote: <br /> Ayes-- Cls. ud~ Culpepper, Deans~ Hsmvey, Herbert, <br /> <br /> By.~un~animous consent, th? Public Service Department.made a re~ort on the apnlication of <br />the U. S.
