R. C. P. <br /> <br />October 15, 1918 <br /> <br />tP~t the pay roll for the past two weeks shows as mar~ as eight different rates pay for the as- <br />ph~!t gang, and requesting the Council to pass a resolution conf~rming his action ~u paying <br />the men and giving him authority to continue these men at the lowest possible rates. <br /> 0n motion, the City Manager,s action was confirmed and he was given authority to continue <br />the men at the lowest possible rates, as requested° <br /> <br /> Fne Chairman of the Department of Finance presented also a communication from the City <br />Manager in regard to a claim of ~m.Lacy who was injured by a hole in the street during the <br />ter part of 1917. The connmunication stated that Colonel Geo. Co Campbell, attorney for~MrS. <br />Lacy, would recommend to his client a claLm for ~$2,000.00. <br /> No action was taken on the matter. <br /> <br />lat- <br /> <br /> The Chairman of~the Department of Finance requested that a special appropriation of $18G. <br />be allowed to repair the asphalt plant, and said appropriation was allowed by the following <br />vote: <br /> Ayes-- Claud, Culpepper, Deans, Hanvey, Herbert, ~ight, <br /> <br /> Mr. He,Gert moved that the~'Special Gas Committee, the City M~uager and the City Attorney <br />be instructed to take such steps as may be necessary to protect the City'S interest in the case <br />of proposed inc~sase of price for gas in ~ue City. T~e motion was adopted. <br /> <br /> At this point, ~Ir. Herbert moved that the Council at this t~ae elect an appraiser for the <br /> City in the matter of appraising the ferry property. The motion was adopted. <br /> ~hereupon, ~m. Herbert nomir~ted Mr. C.has. F. Harper as such appraiser and he was elected <br />~2y the following vote: <br /> Ayes-- Claud, Culpepper~ DeanS, Hanvey, Herbert, Wright, 6. <br /> <br /> On motion of Mr. Culpepper, the advisability of opening Eleventh Avers. e, from North street <br />to Glasgow street, was referred to the Department of Public Service and City Manager. <br /> <br />On motion~ <br /> <br />adjourned. <br /> <br /> <br />
