<br /> Second. Recommending an appropriation of $I,600. to settle the claim of 2~s. Lacy against
<br />the City; and on motion, sam~e was referred to the F~n~nce Department.

<br /> 'Third. Cor~m~ication with regard to the City of Portsmouth entering into a contract for
<br />supplying water to. Craddock and Truxton. He stated that it appears that the HousiDg Corporation
<br />has been dealing with the Portsmouth, Berkley & Suffolk Water Co. and that ~s the City is about
<br />the assume charge of the property of said Company, the Housin~ Corporation desires to have the
<br />City consider arrangements m~de with the ~ater Compan~ on praetioally the same terms and agree-
<br />mont.
<br /> 0n~motion, the matter was refer~ed to the Special Water Committee and the City Attorney.
<br />
<br /> Fourth. Submitting a copy of a letter which he had written to F. J. McC~ire with regard
<br />to settling the pavement of upper High street, but to which he has not received a satiNfaetory
<br />a~swer. He also recommended an appropriation of $1,000. to begin the repaying of High street,
<br />west of Chestnut.
<br /> 0~ motion, the matters were referred to the City Attorney and Department of Finance.
<br />
<br /> Fifth. Submitting a petition of W. S. Parker, corner South street and Prentis avenue,
<br />the City to put in a drain pipe in ~he open ditch along the East side o~ his property, so as to
<br />permit the erection of a respectABle bri~k build'lng for his tine of ~usiness.
<br /> The City Manager stated that, in order to comply With Mr. Park~r's request, it will be
<br />necessary to put in a thirty-six, inch terra cotta pipe from the South side of South street for
<br />apprO~imatety ninety feet, and also to ~e~6~ruct the pipe un, der S~$th street on this same
<br />drain with larger p~pe; ~11~ at an estinmted cost of $900,00.
