.580 <br /> <br />January 24, 1995 <br /> <br /> At a Called Meeting of the City Council on Tuesday, <br />January 24, 1995, there were present: <br /> <br /> Mayor Gloria O. Webb, Vice Mayor Johnny M. Clemons, <br />Bernard D. Griffin, Sr., *James C. Hawks, *James T. Martin, <br />Cameron C. Pitts, *P. Ward Robinett, Jr., V. Wayne Orton, City <br />Manager, Stuart E. Katz, City Attorney. <br /> <br />95-29 The following call for the meeting was read: <br /> <br /> "Please attend a Called Meeting of the City Council to be <br />held in the City Council Chan~ber, 6th floor of City Hall, 801 <br />Crawford Street, at 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 24, 1995, for <br />the purpose of a Public Work Session. <br /> <br /> In addition, you may consider a motion to go into an <br />Executive Session. <br /> <br />By order of the Mayor." <br /> <br /> 95-31 The following items were discussed in the Public <br />Work Session: <br /> <br />1. Commonwealth's Attorney's Office staff salaries <br />2. Urban Highway Projects <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Pitts, and seconded by Mr. Clemons, to go <br />into Executive Session pursuant to provisions of Section <br />2.1-344 of the Code of Virginia for the following: <br /> <br /> (1) Discussion of appointments of Boards and Commissions <br />by the City Council, as permitted under Subsection (A) (1); <br /> <br /> (2) Discussion or consideration of the acquisition or use <br />of real property for public purpose or the disposition of <br />publicly held real property in the southern, central, <br />Churchland and PortCentre portions of the City, and in Suffolk, <br />as permitted under Subsection (A} (3); <br /> <br /> (3) Consultation with legal counsel and briefing by staff <br />members pertaining to an actual matter of litigation (Adelman <br />suit), and a legal matter requiring advice by counsel as to the <br />City's procurement process and code mandated procedures, as <br />permitted under Subsection (A) {7) . <br /> <br />The motion was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Hawks, and seconded by Mr. Pitts, pursuant <br />to Section 2.1-344.I of the Code of Virginia certifying that to <br />the best of the Council member's knowledge during the <br />immediately preceding Executive Session of the City Council: <br /> <br /> (1) Only public business matters lawfully exempted from <br />open meeting requirements by the Virginia Freedom of <br />Information Act, and <br /> <br /> (2) Only such public business matters as were identified <br />in the motion by which the Executive Session was convened, were <br />heard, discussed or considered in the meeting by the City <br />Council. <br /> <br /> <br />
