.580 January 24, 1995 At a Called Meeting of the City Council on Tuesday, January 24, 1995, there were present: Mayor Gloria O. Webb, Vice Mayor Johnny M. Clemons, Bernard D. Griffin, Sr., *James C. Hawks, *James T. Martin, Cameron C. Pitts, *P. Ward Robinett, Jr., V. Wayne Orton, City Manager, Stuart E. Katz, City Attorney. 95-29 The following call for the meeting was read: "Please attend a Called Meeting of the City Council to be held in the City Council Chan~ber, 6th floor of City Hall, 801 Crawford Street, at 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 24, 1995, for the purpose of a Public Work Session. In addition, you may consider a motion to go into an Executive Session. By order of the Mayor." 95-31 The following items were discussed in the Public Work Session: 1. Commonwealth's Attorney's Office staff salaries 2. Urban Highway Projects Motion by Mr. Pitts, and seconded by Mr. Clemons, to go into Executive Session pursuant to provisions of Section 2.1-344 of the Code of Virginia for the following: (1) Discussion of appointments of Boards and Commissions by the City Council, as permitted under Subsection (A) (1); (2) Discussion or consideration of the acquisition or use of real property for public purpose or the disposition of publicly held real property in the southern, central, Churchland and PortCentre portions of the City, and in Suffolk, as permitted under Subsection (A} (3); (3) Consultation with legal counsel and briefing by staff members pertaining to an actual matter of litigation (Adelman suit), and a legal matter requiring advice by counsel as to the City's procurement process and code mandated procedures, as permitted under Subsection (A) {7) . The motion was adopted by unanimous vote. Motion of Mr. Hawks, and seconded by Mr. Pitts, pursuant to Section 2.1-344.I of the Code of Virginia certifying that to the best of the Council member's knowledge during the immediately preceding Executive Session of the City Council: (1) Only public business matters lawfully exempted from open meeting requirements by the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, and (2) Only such public business matters as were identified in the motion by which the Executive Session was convened, were heard, discussed or considered in the meeting by the City Council.
