'SeptemBer 27, 1919 A comm~aication was read frOm.the City'~nage~, stating that he had notified the City Engi- neet and Building Inspector to establish a building line on the south side of Leckie street, be- tween Chestnut and Hatton, according to Section 4, Paragraph G, of the Building Code. 0n motion, the matter was referred to the City Manager and City Attorney. On motion, adjotu~ned. October 14, 1919 At a regula~ meeting of the City Council October 14th there were present: Messrs-- T. A. Bunting~ M. P. Claud, W. H. C~lpepper, C. D. Deans, J. T. Hanvey, C. September REPORTS 0F DEPARTmeNTS NO report. Public Service-- No report. Public Property-- Presented a letter from the Manager of the U. S. Housing Corporation to the City Manager requestin~ hL~ to "take up the subject of abandoning the Terminal at Pearl Street, Berkley, Virginia, at the next regular meeting of yo~_~ co~ittee, so that this matter can be brought before the Advisory Board at the next meeting Thursday, October 23rd. No action was taken on the matter and the communication was ordered to be filed. Public Safety-- ~0 report. Public Welfare-- No report, Finance -- Referred September 16th A special appropriation of $1,500. for cutting weeds and filling and draining dirt streets for the balance of the year. It is recormmended t~t a special appropriation of $1,000. be allowed~for the purpose. A special appropriation of $490, to p~_~chase two horses; also buggy and harness for the Sup- erintendent of the~Streetso It is recommended that said appropriation be allowed. A special approp_ zatzon ~f $125. to cover the cost of a mowing machine We report that the amount is provided for in other appropriation. Recommendation of the Public Service Department that the pay of B. 0. Montague be from $4.00 to $4.50 per day. ~e report that this matter will be considered in the Budget for 1920. incr e a se d City MRnager to advise with Public Service and Finance Depa-~tments in regard to appozntme~t of inspectors for street m_mp. ovements. This is being done, City Manager submits appl_cazmon from City Physician Dr. Phillips that his fee for doctor's license be waived on account of his duties in connection with the City. We report that this Dep~tment does not deem this best for the interest of the City. A con~nunication from the City ~nager attaching bill of C. D. r_eEson to amount of $42.14, for ser~¢ices rendered by him in connection with the street car hearing before the State Corporation Commission. We report that this appropriation~aas been provided for in other appropriation. City ~nage_ submits bill from Wm.
