<br /> A request~was read from the School Board that $861.58 be allowed to pay Water bills of the
<br />Board f6r months of February, March, April, May, June, July, and August, 191~; and same was re-
<br />ferred to the Finance Department.
<br />
<br /> A communication was read from the Western Union Telegraph Company requesting that action
<br />be taken on their petition to be allowed to ir~?tall ttuderground cable and dismantle aerial wires
<br />and cable in the City of Portsmouth.
<br /> On motion, the matter was referred to the Public Service Department and City ~nager to
<br />i~vestiga%e at once the advisability of granting the petition; and if not in conflict with c~-
<br />duits already in the streets, to grant same.

<br /> The followin~ communication was read from Capt. B. F. Vandervoort concerning the completion
<br />of the Portsmouth Water-Development, and same was referred~to the Special Water ommmttee.
