<br />At a regular meeting of the City Council March 22nd there were present:

<br /> Referred March 8th
<br />
<br /> Recommendation of the City Manager that an appropriation of at least $625. be made as
<br />the City's share of expenses of the H~mpton Roads Commission, authorized by Act of the General
<br />Assembly, approved March 16, 1920.
<br /> ~t is recommended that a special appropriation of $625. be made for said purpose.
<br />
<br /> Recommendation of the City Manager that the Council adopt definitely the proposition
<br /> that hereafter the cost of all sidewalks shall be borne by abutting owners,
<br /> Progress as to same.
<br />
<br />Recommendation of the City Manager that an additional~appropriation of $1,700. be made~
<br />from the bond issue, for completion of the new fire engine house at Lincoln and Virginia Sts.
<br /> I't is recommended that said appropriation be allowed, out of Improvement Bond Fund.
<br />
<br /> Recommendation of the City Manager that the City purchmse property owned by the Ports-
<br />mouth Cotton Mfg. Co. ~t Chestnut and Duke streets, to be used for Stables, Asphalt Mixing
<br />Plant, Gs~rages, Shed for Vehicles mhd Machinery; selling the Jail lot and the Sewerage Pump-
<br />i~ng Station to meet th~ expenses. However, if it is no~ desired to sell the City property
<br />'~ the present time, he lunderstands that the owners of the Cotton Mfg. Co. are willing to
<br />accept a cash paTment of $t0,0OO. ~nd City bonds for the balance.
