<br /> The "call" having been read~ Mr. Hall moved to reconsider the second paragraph of Section
<br />1 of the rules amend,el by the Council June l~th. The motion was adopted.

<br /> Then Mr. Hall moved that said paragraph read as follows: "The President or any four
<br />members of the Council may call a special meeting." The amendment was adopted By the

<br /> On motion of Mr. White, the election of a City Attorney to take the place of George
<br />Bosman, resigned, was referred to the nsx~ regular meeting of the Council.

<br /> At this point, Mr. Brooks moved that several ladies present be allowed the privilege of
<br />the floor. The motion was adopted, and several spoke in favor of paving ~aple avenue.

<br /> The Lmke Drummond Ca~al and Water Company asked that the. agreement between said Company
<br />and the City approved by the Council Mmy Z~nd be amended, ~nd presented mn amended form Of sai~
<br />contract as follows:

<br /> THIS AGREEMENT, Made this 29th day of April,19~l, between The Lake Drummond Camal and
<br />Water Company, a ~orporation, p~rty of the. fi~st.~ ~.!m~r~. t, and the City of Portsmouth, Virginia,
<br />a municipal corporation, or its assigns, party of the second part.
