April 4, 1995 <br /> <br /> At a Called Meeting of the City Council held. on, Tuesday, <br />April 4, 1995, there were present: <br /> <br /> Mayor Gloria O. Webb, Vice Mayor Johnny M. Clemons, <br />Bernard D. Griffin, Sr., James C. Hawks, James T. Martin, <br />Cameron C. Pitts, V. Wayne Orton, City Manager, George M. <br />Willson, Acting City Attorney. <br /> <br />95-160 - The following call for the meeting was read: <br /> <br /> "Please attend'a Called Meeting of the City Council to be <br />held in the City Council Chamber, 6th floor of City Hall, 801 <br />Crawford Street, at 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 4, 1995, for the <br />purpose of a Public Work Session. <br /> <br /> In addition, you may consider a motion to go into an <br />Executive Session. <br /> <br />By order of the Mayor." <br /> <br />95-161 - The following item was discussed in the Public Work <br />Session: <br /> <br />1. Operating Budget <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Clemons, and <br />into Executive Session pursuant <br />2.1-344 of the Code of Virginia <br /> <br />seconded by Mr. Martin, to go <br />to provisions of Section <br />for the following: <br /> <br /> (1) Discussion of the use of publicly held real property <br />in the downtown portion of the City, as permitted under <br />Subsection (A) (3); <br /> <br /> (2) Consultation with legal counsel and briefing by staff <br />pertaining to a legal matter involving the development of <br />property in the central portion of the City, as permitted under <br />Subsection (A) (7). <br /> <br />The motion was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Pitts, and~seconded by Mr. Hawks, pursuant <br />to Section 2.1-344.1 of the Code of Virginia certifying that to <br />the best of the Council member's knowledge during the <br />immediately preceding Executive Session of the City Council: <br /> <br /> (1) Only public business matters lawfully exempted from <br />open meeting requirements by the Virginia Freedom of <br />Information Act, and <br /> <br /> (2) Only such public business matters as were identified <br />in the motion by which the Executive Session was convened, were <br />heard, discussed or considered in the meeting by the City <br />Council. <br /> <br />The motion was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br />On motion meeting adjourned at 9:41 p.m. <br /> Mayor <br /> <br />p-- <br /> ittman, CMC/AAE <br /> City Clerk <br /> <br />Councilman Po Ward Robinett~ Jro was absent. <br /> <br /> <br />
