O0) BONE OF THE CITY OF PORTSM~TTH, VIRGINIA, FOE. THE PURPOSE OF BUILDING AND <br />EQUIPPING A JAIL IN SAID CITY; MAKING PROVISION FOR THE FORM OF SAID BONDS, AND FOR THE PAY- <br /> MENT.THEREFOF. <br /> <br /> An appropriatio~ of $200. to decorate streets and public buildings along the line of march <br />Armistice D~y. ~2~0~.' <br /> It is recommended tha~ a special appropriation of $200. be allowed for same. <br /> A bill cf John~ C. Niemeyer to amount of $2,000,00, on account of commissions on land smd s~.s~pp <br />personal property books. <br /> Progress ~as to same. <br /> <br /> Petition of Virginia News Company, Inc., Norfolk, Va., to be refunded $21.00 license tax <br />paid on automobile ~ruck. <br /> Report Progress on s~me, and would recommend that the City Attorney be instructed <br />to note an appeal from the decision of the Circuit Cour~ on license tax oases, and that the <br />Virginia News Company be notified of our action. <br /> <br /> Protest 0£ citizens ~nd property owners on County and Dinwiddie s~reems, adjacent to the <br />southwest intersection of said streets, against construction of a fire engine house at said <br />corner. <br /> Progress. <br /> <br />Referred October llth <br /> <br /> Recommendation of the Manager that he be aumhorized to purchase a tractor for use on <br />streets ~n the old City and the Ninth Ward, $800. cf the cost ~o be paid from sur Bond Issue <br />and $800. from the appropriation of overhead expenses of the Ninth Ward. <br /> It is recommended that an apprcp~iation of $1600. be allowed, from the last bond <br />issue, to purchase this tractor. <br /> <br />Referred September <br /> <br /> Recommendation of the Manager that an additional appropriation of $1t00. be allowe~ for <br />water and fuel at the Jail covering bills already made and anticipated expenditures for the <br />rest of the Year. <br /> It is recommended that a special appropriation of $270.~6 be allowed to pay for fuel <br />at the Jail. <br /> <br /> Recommendation of the Manager that the City make each year ihe necessary appropriation <br />to~ay premiums On bonds of all City Officials, involving an expense of about $~O0. per year. <br /> Your Gommi$~ee will consider this with the 1922 Budget. <br /> <br /> Your Committee begs leave ~o r$oommend th~ the license paid by non-resident sof~ <br />drink manufacturers in excess of the amount charged resident soft drink manufacturers be <br />funded, a~d that aa appropriation of $?50.00 be made for same. <br /> <br /> (Signed) L.G. The motion was adopted by the following <br />vote: <br /> Ayes-- Brooks, Esleeck, Hall, Hutchins, Oast, Smith, White, <br /> <br /> Then Mr. E sleeck moved that the recommended ordinance for issue of $150,000.00 Jail <br />Bonds be placed on its first reading.
