<br /> I respectfully report that the Commissioners appointed by the Court of
<br />Hustings for the City of Portsmouth for the purpose of fixing the compensation to the owners
<br />of the la~ neeessarM for the ex te~sion of Leckie street aws~rded Mrs. Emma J. Butler and her
<br />children the sum of $1250, O0, and to Leonard J. Owens the sum of $4~00. The Commissioners
<br />~llowed Mr. Owehs the above amoun~ with the understanding that he could move the old building
<br />if he so desired;

<br /> A communication was read from Mrs. A. G. Richardson calling attention to the condition
<br />of Peachtree and Palmer streets on south side of L~n¢oln, s~me being impassible on account
<br />of recent rain ~nd snow.
<br /> On motion, the communication.was referred to the City Manager.

<br />of your honorable body effective March 1st, 1922.

<br /> On motion of Mr. White, the resignation was ~c¢~p~,and in this connection, Mr. White
<br />offered the following resolutions:

<br />Va.~ That, while we express our sin~e~e and deep regret at the resignation of ~tr. Hall from
<br />this body, we r ejoise at his advancement to a higher station, and that we ex~end to him our
<br />heam*ty congratulations a~ his well earned promotion, ~nd our best wishes for the successful
<br />a~ministration 02 his new Office."

<br />0n motion, the resolutions were a%opted, and by the following vote:

<br /> A petition of certain residents and ~ax-payers of the 1900 Block of Peachtree Av~., be-
<br />~ning at Lincoln street running South to Palmer, that said block be curbed and guttered, to
<br />relieve ~he drainage situation, was referred to the City Man,ger.
<br />
<br /> A petition o~ certmin merchants and patrons of the City Market that the equipment of
<br />Grimes.Battery be removed from the Market House at the earliest possible moment, was referred
<br />to the~City Mauager.
<br />
<br /> A'communication was remd from the South Hill Manufacturing Co., Inc., at Port Norfolk,
<br />calling a~tention to condition of the roadway leading to the plmnt of their Company.
<br />On motion of Mr. Brooks, the privilege of the floor was g~a~ted to S. G. Blalook, re-
<br />presen~a$tve.gf the~ .S. out~h Hi.ll Manufaotttring Co., who explained the condition of said r~mdw~y.
