June 11, 2002 <br /> <br /> At a Called Meeting of the City Council on Tuesday, June 11, 2002, there were <br />present: <br /> <br />Mayor James W. Holley III, *Vice Mayor Bernard D. Griffin, Sr., Cameron C. Pitts, <br />*P. Ward Robinett, Jr., William E. Moody, Jr., Charles B. Whitehurst, Sr., Interim City <br />Manager C. W. McCoy, City Attorney G. Timothy Oksman. <br /> <br />02 - 167 - The following call for the meeting was read: <br /> <br /> "Please attend a Called Meeting of the City Council to be held in the City <br />Manager's Conference Room, 801 Crawford Street, 6th floor, 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, June <br />11, 2002 for the purpose of a Public Work Session. <br /> <br />In addition, you may consider a motion to go into a Closed Meeting. <br />By order of the Mayor." <br />02 - 168 - The following items were discussed in Public Work Session: <br />1. Museums Naming Rights Policy and Mission Statement <br />2. Joint Library <br /> <br />3. Report on Building and Zoning Appeals <br /> <br />4. Memorandum of Understanding - Sister City of Kericho, Kenya <br /> <br />5. Items presented by City Manager - Mosquito Program <br /> - Shipyard Commanders Comments <br /> - License Plate (250th Commemorative) <br /> - Water Tank on Frederick Boulevard <br /> - Eminent Domain (School Issue) <br /> <br />02 - 169 - Motion by Mr. Whitehurst, and seconded by Mr. Moody, to go into Closed <br />Meeting pursuant to provisions of Section 2.2-3711(A) of the Code of Virginia, to <br />discuss or consider the following: <br /> <br /> consultation with legal counsel about specific legal matters, as per paragraph <br /> <br />7; and <br /> <br />personnel matters and appointments to public position, as per paragraph 1. <br /> <br />The motion was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Whitehurst, and seconded by Mr. Moody, pursuant to Section <br />2.2-3712(D) of the Code of Virginia, certifying that to the best of the Council Members' <br />knowledge during the immediately preceding Closed Meeting of the City Council: <br /> <br />1. Only public business matters lawfully exempted from open meeting <br /> requirements by the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, and <br /> <br />Only such public business matters as were identified in the motion by which <br />the Closed Meeting was convened, were heard, discussed or considered in <br />the meeting by the City Council. <br /> <br />The motion was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br /> <br />
