Also the City Manager. The minutes of the regular meeting 8uly 25th were read anl were approved. REPORTS OF CO~,9~ITTEES Fin~nce-- Referred July 25th Report from the City Manager in regard to extension of lights westward on High street. /' Progress as to same. '~ the present system of cluster Recommendation of the Manager that a special appropriation of $250. be allowed for ser- vices of an architectural draftsman to prepare sketch plan showing in a general way the space needed and the arrangement o~ space proposed on the several floors of the proposed City and uounty Office Building. (If the joint plan is adopted, the cost to ~e eventually divided btween the County and City). Pr og~ess. Recommendation of the Manager that an additional s~ppropriation of $7?9.00 be appropriated, o~t of Eighth Warod funds, in ~order to install fire alarm s stem in t~he Ei~.h~h ~.ud:Ninth Wards. -It is r~commended that a special aporoprlation o~ $?~9.00 ce alIowed, out of Eighth Ward funds, for this purpose. Report_ of the Auditgr on au~d~t!ng accounts of the Police Justice. we recommend that the Clerk to the Police Justice be notified tha~ i~ the future he will be held personally responsible for the fines assessed and which should be collected but are not ?ollected; and that the Police Justice be directed to issue ~captas against any one who has oeen charged with a fine which should be paid ~Z has not be~n paid. Bill of P. C. Hutohins, State Game ~arden, ~o amount of ~2~2.50, for services rendered in destroying 105 ~a~ess dogs. ~t is recommended that t~hs Treasurer be authorized to pay s~id bill, out of funds on ha~ud from collection of Dog Taxes. The following cormmu~lc~tions were read from the City Manager: lat. Forwarding oopi~s of the report of the operation of the Portsmouth Water Department for the month of Jur~e, 1922. On motion, the report was ordered to be filed. 2nd. Communication enclosing communication from the Superintendent of the Water Depart- men~, relative to amounts due the said Department ~y the City. On mo~ion, the communications were referred to the Finance Committee. 3rd. Recommendation that a special ~ppropriation of $3,500. be allowed for the mainte- nance ~nd oper&tion of sewers for the bal~nc~ of the Year~ On motion, ~he reommendation was referred to Finance Committee. Recommendation that the ordinance providin~ for the cutting of weeds by the property owners, now on the table, be passed or that a special appropriation of $1,000. be provided for this purpose. The ordinance, as follows, was An Ordinance Regarding the Cutting of Weeds in the City of P~rtsmouth.
