June 7, 1995 At a Called Meetinglof the City Council held on Wednesday, June 7, 1995, there were present: Mayor Gloria O. Webb, Bernard D. Griffin, Sr., James C. Hawks, James T, Martin, Cameron C. Pitts, P. Ward Robinett, Jr. 95-266 - The following call for the meeting was read: "Please attend a special called meeting of the Portsmouth City Council on Wednesday, June 7, 1995, at 5:30 p.m, in the Commerce Bank conference Room, Second Floor, 500 Crawford Street, Portsmouth, Virginia, for thepurpose of considering a motion to go into Executive Session for discussion and consideration of Council appointees as permitted under Section 2.1-344 (A) (1), Code of Virginia. By order of the Mayor." Motion by Mr. Martin, and seconded by Mr. Robinett, to go into Executive Session pursuant to provisions of Section 2.1-344 of the Code of Virginia for the following: (1) Discussion of a personnel matter involving a CounCil appointee, as permitted under Subsection (A)(1). The motion was adopted by unanimous vote. Motion by Mr. Robinett, and seconded by Mr. Martin, pursuant to Section 2.1-344.1 of the Code of Virginia certifying that to the best of the Council member's knowledge during the immediately preceding Executive Session of the City Council: (1) Only public business matters lawfully exempted from open meeting requirements by the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, and (2) Only such public business matters as were identified in the motion by which the Executive SesSion was convened, were heard, discussed or considered in the meeting by the City Council. The motion was adopted by unanimous vote. On motion meeting adjourned 8:15 p.m. Gloria O. Webb Sheila Powell Pittman, CMC/AAE Mayor City Clerk Vice Mayor Johnny M. Clemons was absent.
