O~m only hope in -
getting an-adjustment of the m~tter is to have the disputed pa~t cf the interest claim adjust
ed along with the app~i~ememt of the property. There seems to be some hope of havlmg this '
done but in o~der ~o dose it willbe necessary f~r th~ Oi~y to pay the amount of the interest
~hich the Oity admits is owing. This amoumts to $58,362.18, and it will have to either be
paid into Court or~to the United States Government in. such masquer as the District Attorney
shall direct.

X, therefore, request~that the p~o~er~cIty officials be authorized to pay the
above amount toge~er with'the Oourt costs of $1~.~0, which is the amount of interest the city
admits owing. ~pon the payment of this ~mount we expect to have the case conti~edaud the
settlement of the remaining interest claimed by the government taken up along with the appease-
ment bf the property.

The case is set for trial on December 2nd, amd as this is n6t a new matter but
on~ whiqh has been pendi~g~before the.council for considerable time, I hope you will authorize
the payment Of the above amount at this meeting of the

Yours very t~uly,

R.
